Details: The Policy Analyst shall coordinate policies and advocacy activities for LA Best Babies Network related to the expansion of Perinatal Home Visitation services in Los Angeles County, and other perinatal policy issues. LA Best Babies Network is dedicated to achieving healthy pregnancies and births in Los Angeles County by providing the infrastructure, programs, advocacy, and support to increase the capacity of community partners to succeed in these efforts. The Policy Analyst will specialize in researching complex issues, crafting possible solutions, and recommending policy actions related to developing funding streams for Perinatal Home Visitation services in Los Angeles County. The person in this position works closely with the LA County Department of Public Health Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health Programs as part of the Perinatal Home Visitation Consortium and is responsible for developing and disseminating information on selected Perinatal Home Visitation policy issues. This includes writing white papers that require completion of literature searches, interviews, and data analysis; representing the Network at community meetings and meetings with health and business leaders to increase public awareness. This individual also oversees the technical assistance related to the policy and advocacy strategies implemented by the Network. This position works directly with the Executive Director and Director of Programs to ensure that all policy and advocacy activities described in the scope of work will be completed. Qualifications: At least three years experience as a policy analyst researching and analyzing complex issues and developing recommendations on possible solutions or amendments and subsequent recommendations for policy actions. Highly-developed writing skills required, including the ability to publish journal articles, write public testimony, conference papers, reports, issue briefs, and public comments. Some experience communicating policy recommendations in public settings such as hearings, committees, conferences, etc., and ability to clearly communicate complex policy information to a variety of audiences.
