This position is responsible for making plates for the printing presses accurately and in a timely manner to ensure that the presses continue to run on schedule. The hours for this position are 6 pm to 6 am, working two nights on, two nights off, three nights on, three nights off, working every other weekend, 36 hours one week, 48 hours the next. Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to: 1) Check accuracy of proofs to ensure that the following are correct: template, page size, number on template gang, version code, color scheme, web size, low res images and text. Look for anything that looks incorrect and report immediately to the Pressroom Supervisor. 2) Start and troubleshoot all computers to maintain workflow; 3) Perform routine processes related to maintenance daily and weekly on all equipment; 4) Determine the correct materials, chemicals and plates to use; 5) Inspect plates for quality and correct minor plate defects; 6) Perform plate care and treatment; 7) Limit waste of materials and supplies; and, 8) Perform all work assigned efficiently in line with press schedules.
