Device Analysis Lab Technician

Details: The Device Analysis Lab Technician will perform the quality assurance responsibilities to evaluate and document the root cause failure of returned products from customers under the elements of Apollo Quality System. Their responsibilities include but are not limited to review, analysis, evaluation, document the investigation and root causes, for customer product complaints. To be successful in this position, the employee will be required to gain extensive understanding of Apollo products and various failure modes of these products. PRIMARY JOB DUTIES: Perform failure analysis and investigations of returned products from customers, per Apollo procedures, to find the root cause of failure. Utilize problem solving skills and investigative techniques to perform thorough analysis of product complaints: failure investigation methodology includes initial gross evaluation (e.g. visual examination, photos of device and failure location if obvious, etc.), functional testing of the device, and documentation of root cause analysis. Proactively communicate issues or problem areas that could affect product design with cross-functional team members/departments as required. Conduct additional product and material testing using equipment such as a leak tester, and Instron, / Chattilon Identify issues or problem areas and assist with corrective actions as required. Work with New Product Development Teams prior to product launches in order to become proficient in identification of potential failure modes and methods of analysis. Ensure that compliance to cGMP and EN/ISO 13485/MDD requirements are maintained. Provide routine updates on status of open complaint records to supervisor as requested. Handle returned, used devices in compliance with company policies. Decontaminate returned, used devices prior to investigation by following the defined safe operation in the lab. Discard complaint products into appropriate receptacles. Write customer response letters for complaints as requested. Maintain Device Analysis Lab space and equipment in a clean, sanitary and orderly condition. This includes responsibility for maintenance of up-to-date equipment calibrations. Details: Opportunity: Join a team creating cutting edge software for the Architectural, Engineering and Construction (AEC) community. You will play a key role in charting the future development of this software application, a BIM (Building Information Modeling) product configurator that guides users through the entire process of specifying and procuring doors, locks, frames and related hardware. This application will be used to analyze, visualize, share and enhance real world construction projects throughout the country Role: Developing advanced BIM software for the AEC community. This includes but is not limited to development of the ASSA ABLOY Openings Studio BIM Configurator (AAOS). AAOS is primarily a web based application with a centralized database. You will be developing client facing interfaces using Java, .NET and C++ that analyze BIM construction documents and generate interactive 3D worlds for project and product visualization and configuration. You will be developing server side servlet execution of client requests as well as web services. You will be developing a plugin dll that interface with 3 rd party design applications from Autodesk and other BIM software vendors. Reporting to the Software Architect, you will take a key role on a talented multi person team and work on the development and enhancements to the ASSA ABLOY Openings Studio. You'll write a large amount of code, design, communicate ideas to the team, implement and ultimately be able to step in and handle any component or the entire life cycle of the process. We have a fast moving environment where you might have multiple projects -- new development, upgrades, enhancements, etc. You should also be a senior resource, helping other members of the team and driving innovation. You'll use a wide range of programming skills in completing these tasks. Your specific activities will include: Writing: Java, .NET and native C++ code. Evaluating: Requested changes/enhancements to size requests. Software products to be offered in conjunction with existing products. Development, test and productivity tools. Operating environments required for application usage. Extension of the application onto mobile platforms. Determining: How to incorporate requests into the existing database structure and multi-language codebase. End user hardware and software requirements for product installations. Experience and success taking multiple software development projects through the application development lifecycle. Experience with formal software development methodologies, preferably agile or lean. Solid understanding of object-, component- and service-oriented design principles. A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related major, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
