Product Development / Sourcing Manager

Details: This position combines new product development activities with offshore product sourcing responsibilities. Responsible to collaborate between Merchandising, Designers, Producing Factories, and offshore support teams in the development of new direct-import product concepts. Identifies qualified sources for production of direct-import products based on manufacturing capabilities, pricing, and supply chain requirements. Develops strong supplier relationships to assure consistent service and long term partnerships. Manages new product development activities through the use of technology solutions tracking all stages from concept to sample approval and completion of initial production. Specific Job Duties: Must be creative with the ability to develop unique and exclusive products by incorporating the various materials, finishing capabilities, and manufacturing techniques found from one factory to another into the design process. Works directly with contract designers to develop sketches, renderings and AutoCAD details. Works directly with our offshore Product Development team to get direct-import samples produced. Review and approve all samples on new direct-import products on site at the producing factories based on HVT product specifications and designer details. Develop costing data for all new direct-import products for negotiation purposes. Manage the product development process using web based technology to complete projects within a specified time frame. Cultivate new business relationships with potential suppliers related to products and product development process. Validate that all producing factories and vendors fully understand all applicable regulatory requirements and are in full compliance with these requirements at the beginning of the sample process. Continuously analyze factories producing products for Havertys to assess their status as a viable supplier from a Risk Management perspective. Work closely with our Supply Chain team to support their requirements with producing factories for lead times and consistent shipping performance.
