Details: GENERAL SUMMARYThe Licensed Practical Nurse performs the technical role function under the supervision of the Charge Nurse. The work is performed in compliance with the established policies and procedures of the hospital and within the educational preparation and any regulatory and licensure requirements. The L.P.N. is expected to assess and analyze given situations, to make decisions within the limits of practice and to work as a collaborative team member. RESPONSIBILITIES* Identifies and collects information concerning the health status of patients.o Distinguishes between abnormal and normal findings.o Reports abnormal findings to the RN.* Assists in determining patient problems, age-based needs and nursing interventions.* Implements interventions defined in the plan of care as directed by the Charge Nurse.* Provides patient education.* Reinforces patient education as necessary.* Contributes to the evaluation of the patient's responses to interventions and to the revision of the plan of care as needed.* Reviews physician's orders and collaborates with R.N. and other healthcare team members regarding implementation of the plan of care.
