Develops or reviews designs by extracting and analyzing a variety of engineering data. Develops, prepares, or recommends schematics, designs, specifications, electrical drawings and parts lists. Conducts tests or experiments requiring selection and adaptation or modification of a wide variety of critical test equipment and test procedures. Performs customer support activities involving the installation, modification and repair of complex equipment and systems. Adapts equipment or system to satisfy unique requirements. Conducts on-site installation of equipment and follows established testing procedures to ensure proper working order. Isolates equipment start-up malfunctions and takes corrective action. Trains customer personnel in equipment operation and maintenance responsibilities. Develops schedules and assigns work to meet critical service projects. Ensures maintenance contracts for services are fulfilled and that appropriate documentation and records are kept. Basic Qualifications: High school or equivalent plus appropriate Trade School or related Armed Forces school + 9 years related experience OR 12 years related experience plus 4 years supervisory experience. Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty. Preferred Qualifications: Most work is performed aboard ships or in industrial conditions. Able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders. Able to work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required from time to time. Environment may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions. May require working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May involve riding ships at sea for extended periods. May require the ability to work while wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States. A professional attitude must be displayed by the Assistant Manager at all times, which includes maintaining confidentiality of all personnel, donor and center related information. This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule to meet production needs and will maintain effectiveness and adjust appropriately when experiencing changes in work tasks or work environment. The Assistant Manager must actively participate as a team member in order to develop and sustain productive relationships and drive the organization to achieve set goals. Specific Responsibilities/Duties Ensure the performance of all center activities in conjunction with the SOP and regulatory guidelines. Review test results and ensure proper action is taken for abnormal and reactive results including removal from inventory, computer entry, completion of Look Back Notification/BPDR, and donor counseling. Maintain compliance with EU, FDA, state, local and company-specific regulations related to employee and donor safety, unit suitability, and proper performance of day-to-day activities. Ensure that plasma shipments and sample submissions are accurate and performed in accordance with shipping schedules. Ensure that required temperature ranges are maintained and intervene when required to ensure suitability of product as required, including responding to freezer alarms. Maintain a professional and courteous relationship with donors and work to maximize donor retention and production growth. Assist the Center Manager to ensure projected production budget is met. Maintain accurate inventory of supplies and goods. Perform self-audits of center logs and procedures and work closely with QA and Training staff to effectively resolve any issues noted. Complete and monitor payroll records to ensure employee hours are used efficiently. Monitor all marketing and advertising activities and work with corporate marketing department to maximize success of advertising and marketing campaigns. Train, develop, and manage all staff in accordance with HR and company policies and other established management guidelines and regulations. Ensure adherence to all HR policies and procedures through fair and equitable treatment of all employees. Hire, motivate, and evaluate center personnel based on established guidelines and goals. Assist with discipline and termination of center employees and maintain complete, accurate personnel records. Ensure adequate, trained staff coverage for all operating hours. Provide leadership through example and foster effective communication, improved productivity, and increased morale through coaching, training, and development of staff. Respond to and resolve complex equipment alarms or donor issues related to processing donors. Collect donor samples in accordance with SOP procedures. Demonstrate good decision making ability, effective reinforcement, supervisory responsibility, and customer service. Work well under pressure and meet demanding deadlines. Possess ability to use computer software, including Microsoft Office Suite. May be required to travel to regional and management meetings, and attend specialty program training when required. Perform other center duties, as assigned.
