POSITION PURPOSE Prepares tissues for microscopic examination by pathologists. In doing so, prepares specimens by freezing and cutting tissue samples; mounting specimens on glass slides; labeling and treating tissue with chemicals so as to reveal specific structural detail under microscopic analysis. Operates and maintains automated staining and coverslipping instruments in addition to tissue processors, microtomes, and cryostats. Prepares solutions and reagents for immunostaining according to established formulas, using analytical balance, pH meter, and other instruments.
