Details: ASSISTANT VITICULTURIST Job Description: Large progressive vineyard located in the Yakima Valley of Washington State is seeking an assistant viticulturist to help manage the vineyard viticulture team. Working under the direction of the Viticulture Manager, the candidate will assist with multiple aspects of wine grape growing. The ideal candidate will lead a team of up to eight interns and must possess strong leadership. Attention to detail with superb organizational and computer skills are required. A proven ability to multi-task and interface with other agricultural departments will require flexibility and the ability to adapt to change. Duties specific to implementing a custom viticulture program include- * Assist with all aspects of Ag. Chemical recommendations, inventories, purchases and applications. * Monitor and publish reports on various activities such as canopy management, weed control, disease and pest control, and regulatory compliance. * Oversee vineyard data collection and viticulture database. * Scout vineyards on a regular basis and provide training to staff. * Manage crop estimation * Attends technical meetings. * Attends weekly meetings with various department heads. * Assists with budgetary development and tracking of expenses in viticulture administration Skills- * Ability to identify common vineyards pests and diseases specific to Washington State. * Must be well organized and possess attention to detail. * Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Ability to work a flexible schedule with additional hours during peak seasons, including weekends.
