Details: GENERAL SUMMARY This position is responsible for monitoring the water quality, chemistry, operating, and performing routine maintenance, in a safe and environmentally responsible manner, on all equipment located within the Waste Water Treatment facility. This person will operate and maintain clarifiers, bulk storage tanks, filter press, mixers, pumps, grit separator and perform all other associated work as directed. Work is performed under supervision and the results will be reviewed periodically through the achievement of set goals and adherence to DTE policies and procedures. PRINICIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Safe operation and routine maintenance on all waste water treatment production equipment and related systems. The major equipment and systems include but are not limited to: clarifiers, bulk storage tanks, filter press, mixers, pumps, grit separator , and other water treatment equipment, support systems, and ancillary equipment. Operating waster water treatment equipment to meet the day to day demands of the customer’s manufacturing facility. This includes the treatment of process waste and oily waste at the quantities and specifications required by the Customer. Monitoring of operating parameters and recording data, including processing rates, chemical usage, pressures, temperatures, vibration indications, alarms and other pertinent information related to the safe operation of the waste water treatment equipment and as deemed necessary by management. Operators will be required to promptly notify supervision of any unusual, abnormal, or potentially unsafe conditions and to take action to mitigate any potentially unsafe condition or operational condition that if otherwise not corrected, could result in out of specification effluent water. Operation and routine maintenance associated with water treatment equipment. These activities include but are not limited to the routine monitoring of water quality, the addition of water treatment chemicals to ensure the required water quality and the performance of routine maintenance of water treatment equipment including changing filters, etc. Isolation and lockout/tagout of all equipment within the waste water treatment facility, when necessary to allow the safe performance of maintenance tasks or actions on such equipment. Perform planned maintenance on all waste water treatment facility equipment, including predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance. Operators will also be required to monitor and assist contractors with outside contracted work such as major maintenance, non-destructive testing, protective calibration, etc. The recording and documenting of all maintenance activities that are performed on waste water treatment equipment. This may include utilizing a written logbook and/or computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to electronically document information and historical data. Maintain an adequate supply of spare parts including, belts, hoses, seals, lubricants, sensing devices, gauges, etc. in a designated storage area within the waste water treatment facility. Perform troubleshooting and correcting problems related to the proper monitoring, control and operation of waste water treatment equipment.
