Tucson officer to observe Madison crowd control

MADISON - A representative from the Tucson, Ariz., Police Department will be in Madison this weekend to watch how officers handle the crowds following Saturday's Final Four game. There were no major issues for Madison police when 10,000 fans poured onto State Street after the Badgers beat the Arizona Wildcats last Saturday to advance to the Final Four. Full story: WJFW

Study: More want treatment instead of jail for non-violent drug users; Drug treatments courts on rise in Wisconsin

CRANDON - A new Pew Research study conducted in February shows that a large majority of Americans support treatment for non-violent drug users instead of mandatory jail sentences. 67 percent of people surveyed believe the government and courts should focus on treatment for drug users. One dead, another injured after truck explodes

VILLAGE OF HOWARD - One person is dead and another injured after a truck exploded near an industrial park in eastern Wisconsin. According to the Brown County Sheriff's Office, the box style truck slowed to turn into a driveway in the village of Howard at about 1:25 p.m. Thursday when the load shifted forward, pierced a fuel tank and caused the truck to explode. Newspaper welcomes new, young editor; discusses challenges and opportunities

MINOCQUA - A 24-year-old native of Arbor Vitae now serves as the The Lakeland Times newspaper editor after a shake up at the paper in March. Jim Oxley had been the paper's sports reporter before the move. Now former editor Ray Rivard wanted to do more writing, according to Oxley. Rivard saw an opportunity to do that when one of the paper's features editors left for a different job. Full story: WJFW
