Driver cited after Oshkosh road rage incident

A 24-year-old Oshkosh man received two citations after a road rage incident Thursday morning. The man, who was traveling north on North Main Street, was stopped at a red light at Irving Avenue Thursday at 11:53 a.m. The man began yelling and swearing at the vehicle in front of him, said Joe Nichols, spokesman for the Oshkosh Police Department. The man was upset about something the driver had done, but police do not know what. Full Story: Post Crescent

Schools focus on mental health issues, suicide prevention

When three Kaukauna High School girls committed suicide in a span of six months in 2009, educators and counselors held forums to raise community awareness and brainstorm prevention efforts. Update: Man involved in standoff in Clayton in custody

A 21-year-old man involved in a standoff with deputies is in custody, according to a Facebook post by the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office. Roads in the area of 3501 W. Suicidal man taken into custody in Hortonville

HORTONVILLE — An armed, suicidal man was safely taken into custody about 8 p.m. on Wednesday after initially refusing police orders to drop his handgun. Police had been searching for the 45-year-old man based on suicidal threats when he got out of his vehicle with a loaded handgun near S. Nash and Nye streets and pointed it at his head, Chief Michael Sullivan said. Police unsuccessfully negotiated with the man for about 20 minutes. Kaukauna man faces child porn charges

APPLETON — Police say a Kaukauna man used his computer to access sexually explicit photos and videos of children. Robert A. Lamar, 43, was charged Friday in Outagamie County Court on 10 felony counts of posessing child pornography. The investigation began at the federal level. Teen sentenced to four years in crash that killed two

MANITOWOC — Manitowoc County Circuit Judge Gary Bendix on Wednesday sentenced Zachary S. Gauthier to four years in prison followed by 10 years of extended supervision for two felony counts of homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle. Gauthier, 18, of Whitelaw, was the driver in the March 21 town of Manitowoc crash that killed 16-year-old Lincoln High School sophomores Zachary D. Zahn and Chelsie M. Harding, both of Manitowoc. Mt. Calvary boy hurt in snowmobile crash

Authorities identify man who drowned in pond north of Appleton

Dive team recovers man's body from lake north of Appleton

CENTER — The Outagamie County Sheriff’s Department Dive Team has recovered the body of an 89-year-old man from a small private lake on Rock Road in Center, a town north of Appleton. Authorities say the man is the owner of the lake and a nearby home. Staff Sgt. Man accused of biting Appleton police officer, spitting at two others

APPLETON — Police say a Menasha man bit an officer and spat at two others after his arrest in a Christmas Day disturbance at an Appleton apartment. Donnell T. Three children arrested in Menasha burglary

Three children were arrested late Tuesday in connection to the burglary of a paper converting business. Police were dispatched about 10:20 p.m. for an alarm at Mondi Akrosil, 206 Garfield Ave. Officers checked the perimeter of the building and found two 12-year-olds and a 14-year-old on the company property and attempting to flee. City Notes: Riverfront development gets financing for $8 million phase

A second phase of riverfront development locked in a final piece of financing Wednesday to move ahead with an $8 million apartment complex. The RiverHeath project will break ground on a 36-unit building this spring, said Mark Geall, the developer with Tanesay Development. “We’ll start work as soon as the thaw allows and have it built in about a year,” Geall said. Fox Valley digs out from snowstorm

Thursday’s snowstorm didn’t carry the punch in the Fox Valley that some people feared, but the wet and heavy snowfall that blanketed the region was enough to set a record. Appleton received 10.5 inches of snowfall on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service. The city’s previous snowfall record for Dec. 20 was 5.4 inches, set in 2008. Neenah deals with dangerous dogs

NEENAH — Police have declared 10 dogs as dangerous animals in the six months since the city adopted an ordinance to tighten its control on pets. MENASHA — School officials plan to seek approval from Menasha Joint School District voters in April for a $29.9 million expansion-renovation of the aging Menasha High School. The Board of Education gave unanimous consent last week to draft a referendum resolution to be considered at its Jan. 14 meeting in order to get the building referendum question on the April 2 ballot. Plexus gives $35,000 to Neenah schools

NEENAH — The Plexus Corp. Charitable Foundation will give $35,000 to the Neenah Joint School District to help with the development of a new course on computer-integrated manufacturing.
