The Principal Scientist, Analytical Chemistry will assist in developing, and will be primarily responsible for, implementing the strategic and tactical plan for the development of the Medical Device Chemistry business unit with the support from management, key personnel, the sales and marketing team, and the PLS quality and operational senior leadership team. NOTE: This position is located in the Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN area. To achieve the goals for the business unit, the Principal Scientist will actively participate in bench level activities such as performing analyses on the Q-TOF LC/MS, guide departmental laboratory operations, and assure that the quality systems are implemented and followed. The Principal Scientist will also have the opportunity participate in presenting at various trade/industry events and will author papers supporting the PLS approach to Chemical Characterization in accordance with ISO 10993-18:2005 Biological evaluation of medical devices Part 18: Chemical Characterization of Materials. The Principal Scientist, Analytical Chemistry is an operational position that reports into the site General Manager, or designee as appropriate. Prepare narrative reports for complex projects. Assess new projects, participate in project kickoff meetings, participate in internal project meetings, and support the quoting staff in preparation of quotes and bids for prospective clients. Supervise projects and coordinate with management to provide guidance of personnel, quality of services, technical competence, productivity and technical expansion of the group.
