Requisition Summary Kenworth Truck Company is seeking a Dimensional Management Engineer to support project groups by coaching the DM process and by using engineering tools to analyze designs and provide recommendations. Job Functions / Responsibilities • Promote/teach Dimensional Management tools and processes to multiple project teams. • Participate/lead in the development of project dimensional Design Objectives with styling, design, and manufacturing. • Perform dimensional analysis on assemblies using statistical tolerance stacks and 3-D tolerance analysis software. • Develop coordinated datum and assembly strategies for parts and assemblies that consider input from the design group, manufacturing, supplier, and inspection. • Apply proper Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements per the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Y14.5 standard. • Develop and coordinate capability studies and measurement systems; interpret data and provide recommendations. • Present and deliver findings throughout the organization (engineering and management). • Solve complex engineering problems to improve quality utilizing the tools of Dimensional Management. Qualifications & Skills Bachelor of Science in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or closely related field. 4+ years of engineering experience with thorough understanding of Dimensional Management, preferably in the automotive and/or trucking industry. Handles multiple tasks, takes initiative, is a team player and problem solver, and has professional and effective communication skills. Project management experience. Thorough understanding of GD&T principals. 3-D tolerance analysis experience desired (3-DCS preferred). GD&T certification desired. Graduate of DFSS and/or Six Sigma Black Belt program desired. Experience with CMM and portable inspection devices and reports desired. Teaching/coaching experience with a technical topic desired. Experience desired in measurement systems analysis, Statistical Process Control, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) desired. Detailed understanding of manufacturing processes, production assembly fixtures, and inspection equipment desired.
