Details: SUMMARY: The MRI Technologist performs a variety of diagnostic MRI exams. This employee will be responsible for successfully working with patients of all ages with a various types of medical problems and assists the directing physician in the performance of examinations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs MRI procedures in accordance with the established professional and department standards and protocols. Confirm patient identification verbally and ID bracelet. Instructs or assist the patient with changing into a gown. Verifies patient history is correct and explains the procedure. Courteously answers the telephone, takes messages and transfers calls as indicated. Gives verbal reports to doctor’s offices as requested. Also faxes reports to offices when needed. Practice proper MRI safety techniques. Is able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients. Is able to assess the patient’s status, communicate effectively, and provide care for each age group. Maintains strictest patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPPA compliance. Responsible for ordering and stocking supplies and linen in the MRI rooms. Assist in the movement of patients to and from wheelchair, stretchers and beds on and off the MRI table. Puts service request for maintenance, clinical engineer and IT departments. Demonstrates consistent and appropriate use of engineering controls, work practice controls and personal protective equipment as directed by OSHA’s blood borne pathogens standard. Abides all compliance requirements and policies and performs these responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization’s mission and vision. Is available to perform diagnostic X-ray procedures when not performing MRI exams. Explains the procedure and post examination care to the patient and family members using AIDET principles. Provides radiation protection for patients, family, and employees. Reviews the physician’s orders before proceeding with the exam. Initiate and care for intravenous access in all patients. Administer contrast medium as directed by physician. Performs post processing on required procedures. Details: SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Manager of Respiratory Care Services, a Respiratory Therapist performs a variety of duties to carry out the medical prescription of a physician in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiopulmonary disease ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: A.) THERAPEUTIC PROCEDURES Conducts physician-prescribed therapy by the operation of IPPB machines, hand-held nebulizers, incentive spirometers, , room vaporizers, and various gas powered devices in order to administer prescribed drugs, gases, humidity and various oxygen concentrations to the patient. Performs chest physiotherapy involving percussion, vibration and postural drainage. Sets up, operates, maintains and monitors ventilators, and CPAP/BIPAP. Makes rounds on a timely basis to check and maintain equipment and supplies on oxygen equipment, and room vaporizers. Evaluates patients, consults with and advises other medical personnel, including physicians and nurses, regarding pulmonary management. Assists the physician in performing therapeutic bronchoscopes. Performs trach care on those patients receiving periodic therapeutic procedures. Changes trach tubes and inserts trach buttons. Performs extubation and assists in intubation. Performs airway maintenance and naso- and/or tracheobronchial suctioning. Responds to all CODE 9 calls to perform CPR as needed. DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES : Performs arterial puncture and capillary blood gas collection, comprehends the results of information, can recognize abnormal results and acts immediately in reporting to the appropriate personnel, can maintain and operate the blood gas analyzers and trouble shoot operation if necessary, reports results appropriately and enters results into the laboratory information system. Performs pulmonary function studies. Assists the physician in performing diagnostic bronchoscopies, Set up, monitor, and download overnight saturation recordings. TEACHING: Conducts in-service education and orientation programs for Respiratory Care practitioners. Conducts in-serviced education for other medical personnel and students. Participates in health education throughout the community. QUALITY ASSURANCE/QUALITY CONTROL: Performs quality control and equipment maintenance in the blood gas lab. Performs preventive and routine maintenance of equipment as needed. Participates in Quality Assurance through concurrent review of patients receiving therapy to evaluate objectives, effectiveness and staff performance. Is responsible for the recognition and troubleshooting of malfunctioning or questionable equipment. CONTINUING EDUCATION : Keeps abreast of current technology and clinical practices. Details: SUMMARY: Protects life and property of all persons on hospital premises and policies, hospital buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft and vandalism. Admit personnel with proper identification into secured areas. Conduct investigations of reported theft, accidents, falls, and security related matters, unusual occurrences. Intra-Operative duties and responsibilities: Assists with patient preparation and draping of the operative site. Assists with transfer of patient to OR bed in safe manner according to need. Assists in monitoring and controlling environment, noise, and traffic flow. Operates mechanical, electrical, and air powered equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions; removes malfunctioning equipment from use and follows through by filling out appropriate paperwork and sending it to repair station. Monitors and maintains integrity of sterile field at all times. Handles surgical specimens according to hospital policy. Follows hospital policy and or circulating nurse’s direction regarding counting of sharps/instruments and sponges Communicates any break in aseptic technique to circulating nurse.
