Details: JOB SUMMARY: As a key member of the technical/product marketing team, the Sales Engineer for SCiB uses technical knowledge along with interpersonal skills to understand customer's issues and propose solutions. The Sales Engineer will participate in all facets of the business cycle including: customer targeting/acquisition, quoting, forecasting, preparing technical literature, presenting product features and benefits, solving technical and commercial issues etc. The Sales Engineer has technical support responsibility for both new and existing accounts for the SCiB battery cells, modules and packs. The position reports to Business Development Manager – SCiB and is based in Houston, TX. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Work directly with customers and with business development manager-SCiB to understand and compile customer requirements for battery products. Communicate those requirements to the technical team in Japan. • Assist and lead the sales effort with product support including technical presentations, proper application of our products, review of customer engineering specifications, preparation of quotations under supervision, and obtaining of answers to questions at all stages of negotiation, production, and after shipment activities. • Provide technical support to end customers and 3rd party systems integrators for designing SCiB cells or modules into customer products or systems. Attend customer design reviews as needed. • Serve as the front line technical representative for real-time day-to-day technical support for existing customer accounts. • Interface daily with the Toshiba technical team in Japan for technical support and for product training as needed. • Assist the technical team in Japan with the development of battery product specifications and provide to customers. • Serve as a key technical resource between engineering and manufacturing at such point that battery modules or packs may be assembled locally at TIC Houston. • Track customer development schedules and assist with prototype scheduling and deliveries. • Possesses a general knowledge of the product offering, industry standards (i.e. UL, CE, NEMA, IEEE, etc.) • Possesses a deeper knowledge of the application of Toshiba's SCiB product offerings. • Develops and reviews product literature such as manuals, brochures, application notes, success stories, white papers etc. • Develops a general knowledge of our competitor’s product offerings. • Comply with all Toshiba policies, procedures and link company objectives to assigned activities. • Employee needs to be aware of and maintain profitability through orders and quotes. • This position may be responsible for sign off/review of quotes, according to Toshiba’s policy. TRAVEL: Some travel to customer locations will be required, around 25-50%.
