Details: The Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, documentation, implementation and support of UNIX Server based operating systems. Regular job responsibilities will involve making design decisions, developing team standards and documentation that is based on the goals of project initiatives and/or changing business needs. Participates in development to maintain, evaluate and document administration of system tools and related strategies. Also support and administer HP-UX 11i and Red Hat 5/6 along with the support components for DNS, BIND, FTP and general support to work closely with the VMware team to host virtual environments and network infrastructure as needed. Ability to troubleshoot and provide Performance Analysis and Capacity Planning for AIX and related environments. Familiarity with Hitachi, IBM or EMC SAN technologies. Provide support for DB2 environments as well as WebSphere to support enterprise teams. Provide mentoring and coaching to peers and subordinate team members specifically assigned as Systems Administrators. Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, report, and resolve hardware, software, and firmware problems on servers. Ensure the integrity, security, and availability of all UNIX-based enterprise servers, their respective application databases and connectivity to and from servers and workstations in accordance to business needs and industry best-practices regarding privacy, security and regulatory compliance. Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of systems software procurement and development efforts.
