Manage plant environmental programs to ensure compliance with Federal, State and local regulations. Provides long-range planning for the facility and equipment needs including capital and major repairs. Develops, implements and oversees predictive, preventative and corrective maintenance programs. Uses other maintenance disciplines in the development and application of reliability engineering, root-cause analysis and troubleshooting of equipment and processes. Coaches and develops training plans for all maintenance technicians. Supervises Maintenance Supervisor, Storeroom, and Planner functions.

"Food Safety and Quality" are the responsibilities of this position. The Maintenance Technician will support the Maintenance Crew to maintain the plants equipment and systems. This is done under the supervision of the Chief or Assistant Chief Engineer. The Maintenance crew consists of 8 people. They perform plant and "general" maintenance for the facility. Work Environment: This is a milk processing plant that consists of 4 buildings. Qualifications: California Dairies is looking for a "Maintenance Helper" OR an experienced "Maintenance Mechanic". If the candidate is a "Maintenance Helper": * Experience with hand tools and power tools. * Has some experience with maintenance in an Industrial or Manufacturing environment. If the candidate is a higher level "Maintenance Mechanic": * Should have electrical experience in both high and low voltage. * PLC programming experience preferred. * Maintain and repair all production equipment: pumps, pasteurizers, evaporators, dryer, valves, bagger, etc. * Maintain and repair all support equipment: boiler, air compressors, ammonia compressors, thermal storage units, condensers, vacuum pumps, ammonia systems, air conditioning units, sewer meters, conductivity meters, water meters, etc. * Must have a working knowledge of and experience in plant maintenance operations. * Handling of chemicals for support equipment operation. Chemical testing of boiler feed water, condensate, cooling tower water, food-grade glycol, and plant process water. * Daily utility readings. * Fabrication and manufacturing of equipment for production needs: product and process piping, sanitary equipment, steam lines, chemical lines, pneumatic lines, etc. * Responsible for working with a minimum amount of supervision in all key areas. * Responsible for reviewing work orders and activity reports on a daily basis. * It is necessary that Maintenance Techs work well with employees throughout the plant. * Responsible for care and maintenance of company tools. * Must be able to work overtime as needed. * Must be able to work all shifts. * Maintain a positive attitude and contribute towards a quality environment. Performance Expectations: * Must work in a safe, efficient manner and follow all safety procedures, including the use of safety equipment. * Must have the ability to troubleshoot small problems and be able to discern when issues may require input from levels of authority within the corporation. * Must be willing to ask for assistance when the process is unclear. Interview Information: Will interview with the Chief Engineer. Will be asked about their previous experience. need to be able to explain the different equiment that they have repaired and maintained. Additional Compensation: Maintenance Helper: $17-$20 Maintenance Mechanic: $20-$24 If they go direct, they must join the Union. $26.50 when direct. Additional Information: Must have their own set of basic tools - Screw drivers, wrenches etc. The company will supply all other tools. Will be given tool box, and their own locker.
