Train Systems Engineer

Details: Our customer is seeking a Train Systems Engineer in the Southern Tier of Upstate New York. Responsible for : Develop technical specifications for rolling stock electrical equipment like traction systems, electrical locker, Head End Power (HEP), etc. based on customer requirements Design, test, integrate and commission electrical systems that meet/exceed customer expectations on performance, quality, safety and reliability Define interfaces to external sub-systems, ensuring accurate interface control to external sub-systems Develop component specification and provide technical assistance to Sourcing for procurement of major systems and components Develop a complete technical Scope of Work (Work Breakdown Structure) for rolling stock renovation, overhaul and/or maintenance proposals based on customer technical specification and train system requirements specification Demonstrated expertise in the use of diagnostic technologies in maintenance of rolling stock, e.g. Condition Based Maintenance tools Proven technical leadership in rolling stock life cycle management using Reliability Centered Maintenance strategies Review design submittals and provide feedback based on form, fit and function Participate in formal design review meetings and technical working sessions Define validation plan for electrical systems and ensure comprehensive validation testing is performed that meets customer expectations on performance, quality, safety and reliability Inspect and review prototypes and first article equipment and provide detailed report of review findings to the business Manage/supervise medium to large scale projects with proven record of meeting/exceeding aggressive schedule and cost targets Coordinate projects with teams from various internal and external entities and suppliers Provide technical support to production teams and customers Accountable for Quality, Cost and Delivery (QCD) for Engineering phases of maintenance, overhaul and/or equipment modernization projects Qualifications Minimum qualifications include a BS degree in Electrical Engineering Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering development, design for transit rail cars Demonstrated ability to manage medium to large scale projects meeting/exceeding aggressive schedule and cost targets Hands on modeling experience using AutoCAD and Solid Works 3D Review design submittals by suppliers and provide feedback based on Form, Fit and Function Position offers competitive salaries, an excellent benefits package, and flexible work options, as well as a uniquely diverse and unified team of professionals.
