This should be done based on the goal and general curriculum plan of the Provena Fortin Villa Child Care Center. Ensure that childcare routines are carried out in a manner that is prompt, hygienic, and consistent with the good child development principles. This includes routines related to diapering, potty training, hand washing, eating, napping, and transitioning between activities. Ensure the safety of children through constant supervision, effective arrangement of space, proper maintenance of equipment, and regular practice of fire drills and other emergency procedures. Operate the classroom in compliance with all childcare licensing standards, paying particular attention to ensure that standards prohibiting corporal punishment are obeyed. Provide supervision to all staff assigned to the classroom and include staff in planning and child development assignments. Create a pleasant, inviting classroom atmosphere in which children feel comfortable and secure. Provide positive guidance to help children develop the ability to be self-disciplined. Provide experiences, which promote individual self-expression in conversation, imaginative play, and creativity. Provide a variety of language stimulation activities. Provide experiences involving thinking skills such as generalizing, classifying, sorting, and problem solving. Provide a variety of opportunities to help children develop and understand appropriate relationships with others. Ensure that parents receive adequate information about their child’s experiences at the center through daily contact and regularly scheduled parent conferences. Maintain written records designed to evaluate each individual child as well as the class as a whole. Train and orientates all new staff to their department. Contributes to the operation of the center by participating in staff meetings and sharing information gained through attendance at workshops and professional readings. Work as a member of a team to ensure continuity of curriculum and a high standard of quality in all classrooms in the center. Advocates the Provena Health mission and philosophy in all matters pertaining to the delivery of services. Responsible for knowing and doing what is right and reporting any legal, ethical or safety concerns to the appropriate party. Follow the Standards of Effective Teaching. Education and/or Experience Sixty semester hours of credits from an accredited college or university with six hours in courses directly related to childcare or child development, from birth to age six or one year (1560 clock hours) of child development experience in a nursery school, kindergarten, or licensed day care, and thirty semester hours of credits from an accredited college or university with six hours directly related to child care or child development, from birth to age six or completion of credentialing programs approved by the department in accordance with the state regulations.
