SCHS junior wins medalist honors at invite

Mueller battles elements to shoot 78By:

Greg Bates, Leader Correspondent

Leader Photo by Jason Arndt Shawano Community High School junior Cole Huntington focuses on the ball prior to launch at the Oconto Falls Invitational, held at River Hills Golf Club in Oconto Falls, Thursday afternoon.

Some days, Braden Mueller isn’t even the best golfer on his team.

On Thursday, he was the best golfer on the course.

The Shawano Community High School junior was the lone golfer out of 64 players to shoot in the 70s as he won medalist honors at the Stu Anderson Invitational at River Island Golf Course in Oconto Falls.

“Braden’s played well all year long,” Shawano coach Dean Kugler said. “We’re very proud of the way he’s played.”

Mueller was pleased with his score (78) and place, but he’s a perfectionist on the course.

“It could have been better, but it’s pretty good considering the conditions today,” Mueller said.

The conditions were rough for the golfers. They had to deal with temperatures in the low to mid-40s. The wind gusts gave the players fits.

“When you’re playing some of these holes into the wind, it’s difficult,” Kugler said. “It makes it tough, so scoring is up. But that’s to be expected. We play in this all year long.”

As a team, Shawano placed fourth out of 13 schools. Marinette was first (337), followed by Bay Port (341) and New London (351).

“We played about as well as we normally do,” Kugler said.

Shawano’s No. 1 golfer Ian Lewis shot an 88 – to tie for 13th place overall — logging a 41 on the front nine and a 47 on the back.

“Ian usually is right along with (Mueller), but he kind of played a little bit over the top today,” Kugler said.

Also for Shawano, Cole Huntington carded a 96 (47-49), Triston Krueger a 98 (48-50) and Ryan Hoffman a 102 (51-51).

Mueller, who logged a 74 in a meet earlier his season, was on his game. His scorecard certainly reflected that. He had a 39 on the front nine and a 39 on the back, shooting eight over on the par 70 course. He didn’t register anything but threes, fours and fives, finishing with nine pars. Mueller also notched a birdie on the 279-yard No. 5.

“I put my drive out in the middle with a 6-iron and dropped it three feet from the cup from 160 (yards), and I put that in for birdie,” Mueller said.

Mueller, who is in his third season on varsity, had five pars on the back nine after he got into his comfort zone. He was happy with the way he played his irons his entire round.

“I was dropping them on pins the whole day,” Mueller said. “And my putting was pretty on. It was back and forth.”

Mueller, who mentioned holes No. 9 and 18 really got the best of him despite logging bogeys on each, battled the weather all afternoon. The wind was in his face a lot, making it hard to judge distances. However, he seemed to manage quite well.

“I tried to play a lower lofted club, just take a little off and lay it up on there,” he said.

Mueller knows if conditions were ideal, he could have possibly shot a season-best score.

“It could have been a lot lower, a lot lower,” Mueller said. “Maybe in the lower 70s.”

With regionals less than two weeks away, Kugler would like to see his guys clamp down for a strong postseason push.

“As team I’d like to see us take our scores down just a touch,” he said. “We’re just a little too high to be able to be competitive both in conference and regionals.”

Zach Acker shot a three-over-par 38 to earn medalist honors and lead the Bonduel High School boys golf team to victory Tuesday at Glacierwood Golf Course.

Bonduel (190) won by 11 strokes over host Amherst, while Gresham shot 203 and Menominee Indian 217 in the Central Wisconsin Conference regular season finale.

“We’ve been waiting awhile for Zach to put up a good round and it happened today,” coach Dan Anderson said. “He’s pretty happy, and he should be, because it really helped the team capture three much-needed points. This round should build some confidence for him moving forward.”

Also competing for the Bears were Ben Shoup (43), Austin Krueger (51), Mitch LaBerge (58) and Matt LaBerge (61).

Anderson also was happy with the play of Krueger.

“(He) got his chance to show what he could do on the varsity today, and he also really contributed to the win,” said. “It was a much happier ride home in the van and a good way to finish off the conference regular season.”

In junior varsity play, Garret Riemer shot a 61, David Parrott 65 and Mitch Froemming 70.

Berna picks up where he left off

Wed, 05/14/2014 - 7:19am
Shawano Speedway opens seasonBy:

Scott Owen, Special to the Leader

Beautiful racing weather greeted race-hungry Shawano Speedway fans Saturday.

Eighty-three racers were on hand to try mastering the historic half-mile oval on the season’s opening night.

Ron Berna, Jerry Wilinski, Kyle Frederick, Tracy Wassenberg and Scott Blanke scored hard-fought feature victories on Twigs Beverage Sun Drop night at the races.

Late Model

Berna, the defending track champion, led the entire Late Model feature, but it was far from a runaway. Berna, who grabbed the lead at the drop of the green, was pressured early by pole sitter Todd Frank and sixth-place starter Paul Parker.

Near the halfway point of the race, eighth-place starter Nick Anvelink raced his way into the second spot. Anvelink applied late pressure, but could not make a pass to get by Berna.

Troy Springborn may have had the fastest car on the track, though, as he raced his way from his starting position at 18 to finish third in the race.

IMCA Modified

Oreskovich, who won the pole, took the lead at the start of the IMCA Modified feature before a caution bunched up the field after only two laps. Jerry Wilinski had moved from his seventh-place starting position to second by the third lap, and put a pass on Oreskovich for the lead on lap six.

Oreskovich continued to pressure Wilinski and took back the lead on lap nine. However, Wilinski battled right back into the lead on the following lap.

Behind the leaders, Jerry and Eddie Muenster raced side by side for numerous laps locked in a tussle for the third spot.

Wilinski was able to fend off Oreskovich for the win, while Jerry Muenster prevailed over son Eddie for third.

IMCA Stock Car

The IMCA Stock Car feature was a real barn burner. Travis VanStraten and Harley Simon started the race crossing the line door handle to door handle on lap one.

The pair continued side-by-side racing for the lead during the early portion of the race while Frederick advanced from his 10th-place starting position up to third by lap seven. On lap eight, Simon, Frederick and Mike Schmidt went three wide for second behind VanStraten.

The four cars bunched up on lap 10 and raced in a tight pack for the lead. VanStraten, Schmidt and Frederick went three wide for the lead on lap 12.

Frederick took the lead by a nose on lap 15, gave up the lead to VanStraten on lap 16, and used the outside line in corner four to take the lead back the following lap.

Schmidt and Simon closely followed the lead pair waiting to pounce. Frederick was able to hang on as the checkered flag waved.

IMCA Sport Mod

Jason “The Weazel” Jach started on the pole of the IMCA Sport Mod feature and grabbed the early lead.

Jordan Barkholtz took the lead on lap five, but Jach raced back to the top spot on the next lap, and looked like he had the car to beat.

On lap 14, though, Tracy Wassenberg got to the rear bumper of Jach and really began to pressure the leader.

Wassenberg pulled even with Jach coming out of turn four on lap 16. Heading into turn one on the next lap, Jach’s car shot out flames from underneath and his night was over. Wassenberg cruised to the victory.

Mighty Four

Drama came early on in the Mighty Four feature, as Calvin Stueck made contact with leader Scott Blanke on the opening lap, causing Blanke to spin and sending cars all over the track trying to avoid contact.

Stueck got the black flag for his role in the incident, and Blanke was given his spot back at the front of the field.

Blanke and Josh Slewinski raced a number of laps side by side for the top spot, but Blanke would not be denied of winning his first feature at the Shawano Speedway.

Racing will continue next Saturday night with a 6:30 p.m. start time.

Chargers girls win Lions Invitational

Wed, 05/14/2014 - 7:11am
By:

Gerrard Diaz, [email protected]

Leader Photo by Gerrard Diaz Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s Micah Nier competes in the high jump during Monday’s Lions Invitational in Wittenberg. Nier took third in the event.

The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School girls track and field team used depth Monday to win the Lions Invitational in Wittenberg.

The Chargers girls won just two events but had plenty of athletes place to outpace second-place Wausau Newman Catholic and third-place Peshtigo.

“I was a little surprised,” Wittenberg-Birnamwood coach Mike Balliett said. “We went against Newman Catholic last week and Peshtigo earlier in the year, and both times both teams have beaten us.”

Micah Nier won the long jump with a leap of 15 feet, 8.5 inches for Witt-Birn. She also took second in the triple jump and third in the high jump.

Mikayla Hartman, Katie Norrbom, Chyara Zeinert and Maykayla Verkuilen won the 4x100-meter relay, beating out the second-place Tigerton team of Lonna Minniecheske, Karli Minniecheske, Charity Desrochers and Sara Shumaker.

“I don’t think any of our girls had a really great meet,” Balliett said. “But we had a lot of depth. In a lot of events we got one or two places in.”

Tigerton’s girls finished fifth.

In the boys meet, the Chargers finished third behind Newman Catholic and Peshtigo.

Aaron Monnot earned the Chargers’ only win, going 40-7 to take first in the triple jump. He also placed third in the 200 dash and fifth in the 500.

“Aaron has been jumping pretty well,” Balliett said. “The problem we’ve been having with Aaron is trying to keep him healthy.”

Monnot is dealing with a stress fracture, which is limiting his workload.

The coach was impressed by Riley Bohman, who took second in the 3,200 and set a personal record. His time of 11:15.99 was almost 12 seconds faster than his time Thursday.

“He shaved a bunch of time off his run the meet before,” Balliett said. “He’s really been running well the last couple of meets.”

Mason Enjaian, who took second in the shot put and fifth in the discus, also had a good day, Balliett said.

“We didn’t have anyone that really set the world on fire, we were just really consistent,” Balliett said. “We had the depth tonight, more than anything else.”

Jacob Minniecheske led the Tigers with a second-place finish in the long jump. He jumped 18-1. The Tigerton boys finished seventh as a team.

Leader Photo by Gerrard Diaz Shawano Community High School sophomore Morgan Klitzke runs down a ball on the sideline during a match against Hortonville on Friday in Shawano. Klitzke scored two goals, and the Hawks won, 6-2.

Getting three goals from twin forwards Morgan and Megan Klitzke, the Shawano Community High School girls soccer team beat Hortonville 6-2 in a windy match Friday in Shawano.

Hortonville (1-7, 1-4 Bay) took the lead two minutes into the match when sophomore Miranda Natrop got a ball past goalie Carli Hinnefeld.

The Hawks (5-4, 2-1) were quick to answer, though. A few minutes after Hortonville’s score, senior midfielder Lindsey McFarlane launched an arching kick that sailed over the head of goalie Becka Pieper to tie the match 1-1.

“It kind of seemed like we waited to score,” Shawano coach Bob Croschere said. “They scored and within two minutes of each of them we went right back and got the goal back. It’s like we were woken up. In both halves it happened.”

Morgan Klitzke gave the Hawks the lead three minutes later when she found a corner of the goal on a breakaway down the sideline. With four minutes left in the half, she scored again after running through Pieper, who came out of the goal to try and grab the ball.

After an early Shania O’Kimosh goal in the second half, Natrop once again scored, this time on a free kick, but once again the Hawks responded right away. Midfielder Sarah Dickmann scored with 8:51 left in the game on a penalty kick.

“It seemed like they had one player they tried to focus on the entire time,” Croschere said. “She had a couple of decent shots, she had her runs. It’s going to happen. Fortunately, we had enough offense we came out on top.”

Megan Klitzke wrapped up the scoring, getting a breakaway shot with 6:46 left in the game.

Croschere said the Klitzkes are playing like they are expected to as second-year starters.

“They’re playing well,” Croschere said. “They started on varsity all of last year as well. This is what we expect in their second year up there. They’re expected to put the ball in the goal.”

Hinnefeld had two saves, both nice fingertip deflections.

“She made a couple of good saves,” Croschere said. “She is still a freshman going through the learning curve with everything. She’s doing well so far.”

Shawano is in the midst of a busy schedule, having played five games last week, three this week and three more on Saturday.

“We’ll have six this week,” Croschere said. “It was somewhat scheduled that way, somewhat due to the rescheduling. It gets a little taxing on the girls. After we get through Saturday we slow down a little bit.”

Wildcats get 10-5 win over Wild Rose

Fri, 05/09/2014 - 7:06am

Gerrard Diaz, [email protected]

Leader Photo by Gerrard Diaz Gresham Community High School pitcher Christian Haffner pitches against Wild Rose during Thursday’s Central Wisconsin Conference-10 game in Gresham. Gresham won 10-5.

Christian Haffner pitched a complete game, Scott Cerveny had two triples and three RBIs, and the Gresham Community High School baseball team beat Wild Rose 10-5 Thursday in Gresham.

The Wildcats got on their Central Wisconsin Conference-10 rival early, scoring three runs in the first and adding two in the second.

“Getting the lead helps anybody,” Gresham coach Troy Kuhn said. “It gets us up and the other team down.”

The lead helped the Wildcats (6-4, 6-4 CWC-10) settle in quickly, the coach said.

Haffner, a junior pitcher, got things going for Gresham in the first with a single. Cerveny, a senior shortstop, brought Haffner in with a triple, and scored on Riley Nietzer’s single.

“Our bats came alive,” said Cerveny, who finished 3 for 3 with two triples and three RBIs. “We were all hitting the ball. We were hitting them where they weren’t. Some games, you hit the ball and they’re just right there.”

Kevin Ile then reached on a fielder’s choice, stole second base, advanced to third on a Derek Bowman single and scored on a passed ball.

“When we got that lead, everyone was happy,” Haffner said. “Everyone was ready to go and pumped up. That, I think, changed the whole game.”

In the second, Wild Rose pitcher Ty Butzin walked the first three batters. Wild Rose picked off Kalen Fischer, before Cerveny hit a two-run triple.

Gresham added a run in the third, two in the fourth and one in the fifth, nearly ending the game by 10-run rule with a 10-1 lead and the bases loaded.

Wild Rose (8-6, 7-4) managed to get out of the jam, and scored twice in both the sixth and seventh innings, but the Gresham lead was too much.

Haffner struck out nine — including the last out to win the game, walked two and allowed five runs on seven hits. He also had two hits.

“Christian pitched a great game,” Kuhn said. “He’s coming through now that he’s a junior. He’s throwing strikes. Wild Rose is a great hitting team. Our defense backed him up, but he did exactly what he had to do tonight.”

Haffner pitched in a 9-1 loss to Wild Rose earlier in the season.

“I pitched against them in the first game, and they have great hitters,” he said. “I was nervous coming into tonight, but I was able to throw strikes, throw hard and keep it down low. I’m glad to come out of here with a win.”

Ile also had two hits and two RBIs for Gresham.

Butzin took the loss, pitching 4 1-3 innings. He struck out three, walked seven and allowed nine runs on 10 hits. Schyler Waller pitched 1 2-3 innings of relief, allowing one run on one hit. He struck out two and walked two.

Butzin had two doubles to lead Wild Rose. Waller was 2 for 4 with a double.

“It’s always good to beat a big school in our conference,” Kuhn said. “It always feels good.”

Hawks doubles players aim for state

Thu, 05/08/2014 - 7:05am
By:

[email protected]

The weather has been rough on most of the spring sports, but it has possibly been toughest on boys tennis.

The Shawano Community High School team played only two of its seven matches scheduled in April.

“You start at the end of March and go a whole month and we only played twice,” Shawano coach Tom Webster said. “That’s been really tough psychologically. Momentum-wise it’s tough in so many ways. I hate to blame the weather, but it’s been awful.”

Practices, too, were disrupted. With the Shawano Community Middle School tennis courts frozen over well into April, the team was forced to practice in the Olga Brener Intermediate School gym.

“The bounce of the ball is much quicker,” Webster said. “In some ways that’s good, but when the guys finally got on the court, the new guys that haven’t played, it’s just a whole different game outside.”

In the past, Shawano would at least get a match in against Marinette, which has indoor tennis facilities. This year, though, Marinette did not have enough players for a team.

The Hawks don’t have any problem with numbers, with more than 30 kids out for the sport.

“I think I’ve had guys on my team that are really good recruiters who have talked to other guys and gotten them interested,” Webster said. “That has helped us out a lot.”

The scheduling delays also threatened the team’s postseason prospects. In order for a singles player or doubles team to qualify for the WIAA Division 1 tournament, they must have played at least six matches.

That could disrupt the plans of at least two players, the No. 1 doubles team of seniors Tom Cumberland and Austin Steinbach

“Their goal is to get to state,” Webster said. “There are a lot of incredible singles players, even in our subsectional. They really wanted to go to state together, they worked hard all winter and that was their goal, so they decided to do doubles.”

Cumberland was the Hawks No. 1 singles player last season, while Steinbach played doubles last year with his brother, Adam, who graduated.

Unlike many Shawano players who play only during the season or are just learning the sport, Cumberland and Steinbach play year round.

“They were really ready at the start of the season,” Webster said. “I think good things can happen for them. … They’ve worked hard.”

Patarapol Chittanorak, an exchange student from Thailand, has taken over the No. 1 singles spot.

“He had an amazing match on Tuesday when we played Menasha,” Webster said. “He won 6-1, 6-2, against a pretty good player. He’s played since he was 7 years old. He took a couple of years off, so he was a little rusty, but he catches on quick.”

The coach said the senior is quick and has really improved his serve in the last two months.

“He’s a fun player to watch,” Webster said. “We were lucky to get him. I’ve told him, when you are playing No. 1 singles, you are playing really good players, but he’s always up for the challenge. He has a really good attitude.”

Juniors Zach Soper and Cole Reuter, who played doubles the last two seasons, have switched to singles this year to help the team.

“They graciously agreed to give it a try,” Webster said. “They are really improving at singles, and that’s a whole different game.”

Senior Connor Neumann-Sleeper is the fourth singles player. The No. 2 doubles team is juniors Dalton Parson and Sajen Knueppel. The No. 3 doubles team is juniors Ted Mickelson and Rolando Colon.

The team has been able to get a couple of matches in during the last two weeks and will have a full schedule ahead of the WIAA Division 1 Bay Port subsectional May 27 in Green Bay.

“Each time we play, they’re getting a little better,” Webster said. “In the next 2 1/2 weeks we have nine matches. We’re going to be playing a lot of tennis.”

Hawks' rough start leads to loss

Leader Photo by Gerrard Diaz Shawano Community High School shortstop Saige Henning catches a pop fly during Tuesday’s game against West De Pere in Shawano. Shawano lost, 9-3.

Falling behind 7-2 in the first two innings, the Shawano Community High School softball team went on to lose 9-3 Tuesday to Bay Conference foe West De Pere at Martzke Sports Park in Shawano.

Shawano (5-7, 4-4 Bay) gave up five runs to start the game. After the Hawks trimmed the lead to 5-2, West De Pere (9-3, 8-1) scored again in the top of the second.

“The first five batters scored,” Shawano coach Kevin Isaacson said. “It’s tough to fight back from that. I thought the kids did a great job.”

Courtney Baumann, a senior pitcher, came in for relief of freshman thrower Hannah Hein in the second inning and managed to settle things down. She struck out six and walked none while holding West De Pere to three more runs the rest of the way.

“I thought it was an exceptional pitching performance,” Isaacson said. “We were really hoping to get some innings out of other folks, because we’re playing a whole lot of games in a short amount of time.”

Hein allowed six runs on six hits, struck out one and walked one in 1 1-3 innings to start the game for Shawano.

“We have a lot of underclassmen that have a lot of potential,” Isaacson said. “I think we played three freshmen and four or five sophomores today.”

Freshman Sarah Petry almost sparked a rally in the fifth inning with a lead-off single that was followed by a Courtney Ainsworth single. The inning fizzled, though, when Allison Raddant lined out to West De Pere third baseman Tiana Danforth, and the Phantoms caught Petry at second base for the double play.

Shawano didn’t lack for hits on West De Pere pitcher Amber Van Duyse. Courtney Ainsworth and Nicole Ainsworth each had a pair of hits, including a double for each. Raddant and LaRissa O’Kimosh each singled twice. O’Kimosh and Nicole Ainsworth each had an RBI.

“I thought we hit Van Duyse very well,” Isaacson said. “That’s one of the best pitchers in the state in Division 2, in my opinion. Throws 60 mph, moves the ball. I was thrilled with the way we hit the ball.”

Nicole Ainsworth’s double in the first inning scored Raddant, who singled to get on base. O’Kimosh then brought Raddant home on a single. O’Kimosh scored on a Baumann at-bat in the fourth inning.

Van Duyse went the distance. She struck out two, walked none. Danforth led the Phantoms at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Jennifer Timm had a double and a triple and two RBIs.

West De Pere got two rundowns of Shawano base runners in the game.

“We need to be a little more focused on the bases, but I like the way we played on offense,” Isaacson said.

Bonduel downs Falcons, 6-4

Leader Photo by Gerrard Diaz Bonduel High School senior Morgan Sorenson takes a swing during Monday’s game against Amherst in Bonduel. Bonduel won, 6-4.

Bonduel High School softball coach Chris Reinke wasn’t comfortable with a 5-1 lead in the second inning of Monday’s Central Wisconsin Conference-8 game against Amherst, but it proved to be enough.

The Bears, who only gave up three runs the rest of the way, held on for the 6-4 win.

“At the beginning, I wasn’t sure if the bats were going to come around,” Reinke said. “I was concerned, two runs was not enough. They’re a strong team.”

Bonduel (4-2, 4-1 CWC-8) took a four-run lead with a five-run second inning. Amherst chipped away but wasn’t able to cut the deficit.

With two outs and trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Miranda Schmidt hit a two-run single to get the scoring going for the Bears.

“She bats lead off for a reason,” Reinke said. “She finds a way to get on base, which is nice.”

Schmidt’s hit was followed by an RBI single by Alexa Reinke. Amherst pitcher Mikayla Dombrowski walked the next two batters, loading the bases to set up Kailee Pedersen, who hit a two-run single.

Amherst (3-7, 1-5) scored two runs in the fourth. In the bottom of the inning, Bonduel added a run on an Amherst error. The Falcons got another run in the sixth.

Bonduel pitcher Jennifer Dowden walked the first batter in the top of the seventh, but then the Bears’ defense put out three in a row to end the game.

Dowden went the distance and struck out seven batters. She walked four and allowed four runs on eight hits.

“I think she’s looking good,” Chris Reinke said. “She was struggling with a little bit of a sore arm last week. Hopefully she’s starting to work through that. I thought she pitched a good game.”

Dowden and Morgan Sorenson each went 2-for-3. Alexa Reinke was 2-for-4.

Dombrowski allowed six runs on 11 hits, struck out three and walked two.

Monday’s game was just the third time this season the Bears were able to play on their home field, a disadvantage the team worked to overcome.

“I really am concerned about the lack of outside practice that we’ve been able to get,” Chris Reinke said. “The batting is so different out here. There’s so many factors that have caused issues for us this year.”

Hawks split doubleheader in Oconto Falls

Leader Photo by Gerrard Diaz Shawano Community High School senior Taylor Prey pitches against Oconto Falls on Saturday in Oconto Falls. Shawano lost the game, 2-0, but split the doubleheader.

The Shawano Community High School baseball team’s batting slump continued, but pitching and defense were enough to split a doubleheader with Oconto Falls on Saturday in Oconto Falls.

Senior Taylor Prey had a first-inning RBI single in a 1-0 Shawano victory to start the day, but Oconto Falls answered with a 2-0 win in the second game as the Hawks went without a hit.

Pitching was on display in both games, with all four pitchers going the distance and combining for 38 strikeouts on the day.

“When do you ever see a doubleheader, where both starters in both games go all seven (innings)? In high school baseball, that rarely happens,” Shawano coach Rob Wolff said.

Shawano junior Grant Wainio earned the win for the Hawks (2-5, 2-4 Bay) in the first game. He struck out 11, walked one and allowed six hits.

Wolff said Wainio’s performance was his best of the season.

Hunter Magnin took the loss for Oconto Falls (2-5, 1-5 Bay), allowing three hits. He struck out eight.

“They got the one run, then he settled down and he shut them down,” Oconto Falls coach Charlie Rochon said. “He pitched a very good game.”

In the second game, Rochon was even more impressed. Oconto Falls junior Riley Gruetzmacher pitched a no-hitter, striking out 11 and walking three.

“He did really well,” Rochon said. “He had his breaking ball working today, and he got it in for strikes. That’s a big thing.”

Prey allowed five hits and two runs, walked six and struck out eight on the mound for Shawano.

After two scoreless innings, Oconto Falls took the lead in the third inning when Bo Shroyer hit a two-RBI single with the bases loaded.

“Three runs scored in two games between the two teams — offensive juggernauts here,” Rochon joked.

While the games were close, Wolff said he remains concerned about the Hawks’ lack of hitting.

“You have to tip your hat, they were some quality pitchers, but we have to put the ball more consistently in play,” Wolff said. “Right now, that’s our nemesis. All it takes is one of us to have a 4-for-4 game, maybe someone gets a home run. Something has to get us going.”
