Oneida County Health Department hopes to earn national accreditation

RHINELANDER - Local health departments work hard to serve the community in the best way possible. One Northwoods health department seeks a special recognition for their work. Hunting preserve with CWD deer following protocol, weeks until results

MARATHON COUNTY - It will take scientists and officials weeks to run tests on a harvested deer in central Wisconsin found carrying Chronic Wasting Disease, according to the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP). The DATCP released a report Monday saying a white-tailed deer from a hunting preserve in Marathon County tested positive for chronic wasting disease. Full Story: WJFW

State assembly to take up exchange enrollment delay

MADISON - The Wisconsin state Assembly is scheduled on Wednesday to take up Gov. Scott Walker's proposals delaying a health insurance enrollment deadline for nearly 100,000 people. The Republican Legislature earlier this year approved Walker's tightening of Medicaid eligibility, a move kicking 77,000 people out of the BadgerCare program as of Jan. 1. The state's high-risk insurance pool also is slated to disappear at the beginning of the year, leaving another 20,000 people without coverage. Full story: WJFW
