Coordinates paperwork, bed placement and bed readiness on receiving unit. Ensures COBRA forms are initiated. Obtains copies of pertinent patient records for transfer to other facilities. Calls and coordinates transportation and verifies bed availability at receiving facility. Participates in the discharge process by disassembling charts of discharged patients and preparing them for Medical Records. Ensures accurate discharge time and date are entered in the computer by communicating with nursing staff. Maintains current knowledge of code procedures. Coordinates information and supplies during emergent situations. CCD/PCU/2SE/4W/2W notifies RN of life threatening arrhythmia or participates in checking crash cart care equipment checklists, as requested. Completes or contributes to required reports. Assures that acuity report is complete and communicated to staffing at designated time. Attends, documents and contributes to 90% of meetings a year. Emergency Department: Misses no more than one staff meeting annually. If one meeting is missed, is responsible for the content of the meeting, through reading meeting minutes, or meeting with supervisor or peer to review material presented and discussed at the meeting. Supports new ideas and promotes positive change. Remains calm and helpful during stressful situations. Capable of performing multiple tasks simultaneously. Safeguards electronic equipment, keeping liquids away from computer and phone. Is responsible for the safe use of equipment and follows hospital policies for the reporting and repairing of malfunctioning of damaged equipment. Maintains supply inventory for the units. Anticipates supply needs and follows through with appropriate supply orders. Ensures that supplies, procedures and nursing hours are charged appropriately. Minimizes waste through accurate planning. Directly resolves interpersonal conflicts in a timely fashion. Does not initiate or perpetuate the rumor mill. Seeks out the truth and those perpetuating rumors. May perform job duties under the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) job description as needed by the department, if qualified. Must have regular, reliable, predictable attendance in performance of essential job functions.
