Manufacturing Manager

Details: This individual is responsible for developing / mentoring a team of Production Leads and Supervisors and for leading and optimizing all aspects of production including the development of a flexible work force through the implementation of effective cross-training efforts. Provides direction and leadership for ensuring cross functional teams and follows through of plans and commitments to customers through implementation of 6 S Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement. Individual will participate and provide tactical business processes to successfully manage the manufacturing process and process work flow and to deliver customer and financial goals. The individual is on the Engineered Products Team and assigned partner with business development, program management, supply chain and engineering managers to deliver results; reports directly to General Manager. Ability to analyze the business trends utilizing analytical tools and root cause analysis to deploy tactics, track progress and trends through leading indicators that measure the success of the business. Direct interface with Supply Chain and Production Control to ensure proper inventory and material levels to cover productions needs Schedule and Deliver quality products on-time to meet both internal and external customer requirements Coordinates all manufacturing processes to meet established plant forecast and budget goals and objectives Provide direction on manufacturing process enhancements and establishes acceptable work instruction standards Works hand in hand and acts as a backup to other operation management positions for all day to day activity Coordinates with team members to ensure Visual, BAAN and KABA are updated and maintained “real-time” for all personnel Lead and execute, in conjunction with continuous improvement, to reduce cost, improve competiveness relative to cycle times and ensure that there are effective processes throughout Engineered Products Lead operational teams and ensure training requirements for a high-performance work team Participate in WIP evaluations, NADCAP certifications, Customer Certification and other Quality, Environmental/Safety requirements. Control and improve operational costs both direct and indirect for programs to meet cost targets for customer business Partner with EH&S to develop, implement and manage Plant Safety requirements Maintain strong working relationship with direct reports; identify training & development needs for direct reports Direct improvements for program WIP inventory levels through use of 6A, lean & Six Sigma tools Manages and leads a team of Production Leads and Supervisors for daily tasks as well as manages their reporting and production requirements Conducts performance evaluation and provides ongoing coaching and counseling to Production Leads and Supervisors Coordinates all manufacturing processes to meet established plant forecast and budget goals and objectives Review and approve organizational structure, staffing and training of manufacturing personnel Champion in-sourcing and out-sourcing projects alone with SCM and other Ducommun facilities to continue improving overall Ducommun competitiveness globally
