Local groups to announce support for new Bucks arena

Wed, 06/17/2015 - 7:03am
MILWAUKEE -- A storm is brewing over the proposed Bucks arena. Today, some local groups plan to announce their support for the announced deal that would use public money to finance half the cost of a new building. Together the four organizations -- the Greater Milwaukee Association of Realtors, Associated General Contractors, Building Advantage Wisconsin and the Commercial Association of Realtors Wisconsin -- say they represent the feelings of 25,000 members and $5 billion in real estate and sales. As it stands now, the arena could cost $500 million -- half of which comes from the Bucks current and former owners. Taxpayers from the state, county and city will be responsible for the other $250 million dollars. Governor Scott Walker has said letting the Bucks move away will cost more, opponents call the plan corporate welfare. Watch the video for more.
