Mikaela Shiffrin made Alpine skiing history Friday as the youngest ever winner of an Olympic slalom gold medal. The 18-year-old American protected her lead from an impressive first run to win in 1 minute, 54 seconds.

The Netherlands moved toward two more speedskating gold medals, easing through the quarterfinals of men’s and women’s team pursuit Friday. The U.S., on the other hand, didn’t qualify for either semifinal and the team will leave Sochi without a medal.

They did it again. The Canadians broke America’s collective hearts in another women’s hockey finale at the Winter Olympics. Team Canada overcame a two-goal deficit with two goals late in the third period and then scored the winner in overtime.
