Annual Culture Festival brings out thousands of people

STEVENS POINT - Some of us might not have the money or time to travel and experience different cultures. But an event in Stevens Point brought culture from all over the world in one place. The 22nd Annual Portage County Culture Festival welcomed more than 12,000 people at Stevens Point Area Senior High Saturday. Organizers say more than 50 ethnic groups were represented. Witness to killing: Milwaukee cop wasn't in danger

MILWAUKEE - A woman who says she witnessed the altercation in which a Milwaukee police officer shot and killed a homeless man says the officer didn't appear to be in imminent danger. Kelly Brandmeyer was working in a coffee shop April 30 when she heard a shout. She told The Associated Press on Friday she looked up and saw 31-year-old Dontre Hamilton holding an officer's baton. Woman accused of buying bath salts…again!

RHINELANDER - A Rhinelander woman accused of buying bath salts may have bought more while out on bond. In February, prosecutors charged 48-year-old Elizabeth Tietsort and her son 28-year-old Jeremy Raznick for using and distributing bath salts. Tietsort told investigators she bought bath salts through a jewelry business which is a known front for bath salts distribution. Full story: WJFW

Storm Spotter classes available for the Northwoods

RHINELANDER - When skies turn grey in the Northwoods, you know rain may come soon. But can you tell if a tornado is possible with a storm just by the cloud? That's what storm spotters classes try to help with. The classes are helpful for anyone. They're especially useful fishermen and people that like to spend time outside when storms could be near. Forest County Potawatomi: Northwoods job opportunities, investments at risk with Kenosha casino proposal

CRANDON/MILWAUKEE - The Forest County Potawatomi tribe employs more people than any other business or organization in the county. Meanwhile, the tribe has $25 million worth of projects planned in Forest County. They include expansions to the Tribal Government Facility, the Health and Wellness Center, and building new housing.
