As time goes on and the Teachers' pot cases are being resolved, it makes me wonder what is going on behind the scenes, if anything?
We heard from the Sheriff that there was other investigations going on that stemmed from the marijuana busts but nothing has come out yet.
Does the fact that Mr. Lund is going to take a plea deal mean that things are still being covered up? There has been questions raised about that since whomever the witnesees are against Mr. Lund will not have to go to court when a plea deal is made.
Maybe it is the opposite and once the pot cases are all done, then the other busts will happen? There has been a LOT of talk about all of this and it seems like people are really getting fed up and inpatient.
Even though pot is still illegal in this state, and it was morally wrong that Lund and the others were doing this, a person must remember that there seems to be absolutely NO evidence of anything. I don't recall hearing of any drugs that were found on Lund, so really, I am surprised that he is taking a plea deal at all since I would think that a jury would never convict him on pure hearsay. Maybe his decision was based on the media attention he has gotten? A person couldn't blame him if that's why.
According to the news reports, we will find out tomorrow how good of a deal he will get, I'm betting it's pretty sweet...

I'm betting no jail time. The others that were involved had more evidence against them and they didn't get much, if any, time.

I remember the story that one of the local news stations did where the Sheriff Dept was asking us to "be patient" with the investigation, I'm pretty sure that was close to a year ago now. C'mon, seriously!? It has to make a person wonder.
Anonymous replied on
So the State is requesting 6 months of jail time, and how much do you think he will get? My bet is 30 days to zero. What a joke!
Anonymous replied on
The evidence, although not drugs, is that he gave a statement implicating himself as to buying, selling, using and how many times.
Folk Hero replied on
He has been punished enough. He will get probation and fine. He harmed no one while teaching the people who are smart enough to understand, a priceless lesson. Those who are not smart enough, let them b****. Decades from now ,the corrupt law will be ridiculed, not the folk heroes.
Boof72 replied on
Buying, selling or using drugs are not victimless crimes!
Shalimar replied on
Punished enough my as+! My son broke the law 12 years ago & is still paying for it. You know why? Because he was not a teacher, lawyer, doctor, judge, district attorney, newspaper owner ,wealthy business owner, mayor, police officer or among the wealthy of Antigo, who always come out smelling like a rose.
There is 'us', then there is 'them'. 'Them' can get away with & cover up anything. Our Honorable Judge gives more time & higher fines to 1st time OWI's than to child molesters & drug users/sellers.
Stupid me voted for him thinking he'd be impartial & fair. BIG mistake...Big, HUGE mistake. One I will NOT make again & PLEASE SOMEONE run against our esteemed D.A. when the next election comes up. There HAS to be someone at LEAST as bright as Mr Uttke to run for this position.

This is a joke!! Lund should be held to a higher standard since he is educated. This reminds me of an article I read in the court section of the newspaper a couple of months ago. A seventeen year old boy was sentenced to 90 days in jail and 3 years of probation for entering an unlocked garage and taking a bottle of booze that was in the window. When you compare the two sentences Lund is getting a slap on the wrist. A young boy who has 1 felony charge of Burglary get 3 months and an educator who had 7 felony charges might not even get jail time and is only being sentenced for one charge when he admitted to them all. Time for a change in the district attorney's office and a call to the WI department of justice for an investigation.!!

Mary, the court does not tell you jesters how to clean toilets and sweep floors,so, please don't tell them how to do their job. You types were mentioned already. B****** not smart enough to understand.
Mary replied on
So Anonymous You have nothing better to do than to make pointless negative comments on a blog. Apperently you are not smart enough to know that others are entitled to their own opinion even if its not yours. Elected officials work for us Jesters and therefore we can tell them how to do their jobs.

StoptheBullying replied on
To Folk Hero and anonymous, why must you start with the "those who are not smart enough" and "jesters" etc., can't YOU be intelligent enough not to use terms like that. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and name-calling or similar bullying tactics should not be used. Grow up please.
Mary replied on
Well said StoptheBulling. Anyone who feels the need to attack another person who's opinion differs from their own is a bully. If they really thought that what they were doing was ok they would use their real name.

http://attackthesystem.com/2011/03/24/the-only-happy-cop-is-a-sociopath/ Cop groupies and toads always go on the offensive. A dead giveaway sign of a sociopath.
Ignorant B****** replied on
Burglary, in and of itself, is wrong. Even Mary and Shalimar can figure that one out. Malum in se. In the privacy of ones home, harming no one, using herbs that corrupt sick organizations prohibit, malum prohibitum, is not , in and of itself wrong or harmful. Using your alleged real name on this blog, is not superior. Your insistence on stating your opinion is embarrassing yourself and proving the point. The ignorant and clearly less intelligent need a social relief valve.
Let this be a lesson replied on
Folks are getting nasty towards the DA and Judge . Calling other people bullies. This is the MO of a sociopath, the true bully. Their jealousy sadism and ignorance are as obvious as their low self esteem they try to compensate for. To plead that this man who has harmed no one, has lost his job and respect, should spend much more time behind bars? Suffer more? You are cruel and sick! In keeping with your TYPE, you go on the offensive and blame others for being bullies. Those people with more intelligence, more empathy, and adequate self esteem are showing you up for what you really are.
Pease Explain replied on
Why you believe this man should spend time in prison ? You never used cannabis? You mean you are ignorant? Please tell us all why you feel this man should suffer? You don't think it is cruel? Unjust? What good could come of it? Will your sadism and jealousy be satisfied when cannabis, once the most prescribed medicine in this county is again restored to its proper place? Why do you hate those smarter than yourself? Those who are intelligent enough to think for themselves.
It 's Sadistic replied on
To plead your case that this wonderful man, we all should be proud of, should suffer, be locked up. Bullies always rationalize their cruelty. Just like cops . I wouldn't be so proud of using your real names as you boast. You're an embarrassment to our area as bad as the drug dealing child molester cops. BTW, that tip of the iceberg , the sheriff mentioned, is the corrupt dirty cop scandal which got covered up good.
PT replied on
Do you really think the dirty cop thing will never come out? I hope you are wrong!

Antigo's finest, officer Jason Just, quietly left the force with NO CHARGES. Deputy pedophile quietly resigned. This is the tip of the iceberg the taxpayers will never know all.https://ourtaxdollarsatwork.wordpress.com/2012/07/12/pedophile-langlade-...

I really don't think that the issues with Jason Just or the more recent charges against Michael Brayton have anything to do with the "iceberg". From what I have heard, it is all drug related.

@ t.r. : You state: ..."it is all drug related." In fact ,it is not drug related, but, PROHIBITION related. Do you have the gift of discernment ?

Wow I am reading the comments and am wondering what is wrong with people. Breaking the law is breaking the law and those that do should be punished and not given any special treatment no matter who they are. Those who want to complain that it was only pot it does not matter it is illegal. Those that want to ridicule others on here and call names well that just speaks to your character. Talking in riddles does not make you smarter than everyone else. Everyone is entitled to their own opinon and if you don't like their opinion just give yours without attacking their opinion.

@Meg . The judge imposes the sentence , yes, but stays it! If you find the opening sentence of cybereagle, "Truth be said that regardless of the opinions we may have ...", correct coherent use of the language then you too must be drunk. Isn't it better to give a blogger the benefit of the doubt? The ignorance of the court process and ignorance of grammar are not things to defend. You are so concerned with obeying the law.You want this man to suffer , get jail time, because he broke the law. Well, nothing written here, breaks the law. If you think some trash of humanity is offended by their ignorance being pointed out, it is nothing compared to what is done to better people every day for ''breaking the law" of corrupt greedy sociopaths. http://attackthesystem.com/2011/03/24/the-only-happy-cop-is-a-sociopath/
PT replied on
I do not think that Lund should get jail time, I don't think that anyone should get jail time for a pot offense, BUT, why should he be treated differently than others? MANY, MANY people in this county have gotten jail time for pot offenses and in that regard, so should he.
Anonymous replied on
No two cases are just a like . Sentencing, like probable cause, is a fluid concept, not written in stone.

@Another B**** - You said "The judge imposes the sentence , yes, but stays it!" - the Judge does not always "stay" the sentence. It is an option yes, but he can choose to make him actually sit in jail if he so feels.
Also, a lot of times it seems like when there is a plea agreement, the Judge will go with that agreement and not change the sentencing.

@Meg: If you think another B***** like you, is gonna teach me anything about this, you are even more ignorant than you seem. Been there done that.

This is no surprise that he will spend a minimal amount of time in jail, of any at all. I heard he is working at a local bakery, but I can not confirm that.

If the judge does impose and not stay 6 mos. jail, there is something gravely wrong. Give us Barabbas. Lund *broke the law* but so did Jesus Gandhi and Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This thread is severely flawed from the original post claiming what this teacher did was *morally wrong*. Prohibition is morally wrong.
Anonymous replied on
This is a funny thread. All the idiots complaining about someone who was rude to them in posts. If stating the facts is not stroking your fragile ego ,then you call it bullying and say ' 'why must you...". You preach of morals and hope this tremendous asset to us for decades, should be jailed, then pretend to have vast knowledge of sentencing facts. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Prohibition of cannabis is atrocious. Making this local legend sit in jail should be something that costs all involved their jobs.
Antihole replied on
Enough tax dollars have been spent on John Lund. His life is in ruins.
Go after the real scum APD, like all the sex offenders and your own crooked cops. What a disgrace of a city. Charging people for possession month after they smoke weed. I dunno who's more nieve the DA the Cops or the people who still live there.
Welcome to Stalingrad folks. Just a bunch of Tea Party right wingers who no longer represent the majority of Americans. Get out while you still can.
Big Trucker replied on
We may be a bunch of right wingers, but at least we do believe in morals and know what the law is, which Lund definitely broke. He needs to do some time for those actions. For God's sake, he confessed! What's so difficult here? I think the screwed up ones are the people that can't see this for what it is. There are people in Antigo arrested all the time for drugs and they end up doing the time, without all the bleeding heart support.
We're getting closer to socialism all the time, but it's not at the hands of the APD, but rather our federal govenment trying to take our guaranteed rights. You want to stand for something, leave Lund go to jail and stand up for YOUR rights before they're gone.
Anonymous replied on
Exactly Big Trucker, I've never heard so much whining about how Lund shouldn't go to jail, blah, blah, when everyone else has to...
Big Sucker replied on
Illogical slave like thinking from Big Sucker, I mean Trucker. You think that if some are abused ,then all should be abused. Your strict obedience to your superiors is as embarrassing as your condemnation of those who are free to think for themselves. Some prohibited plants might just free you from your sickness. The majority of US citizens believe cannabis should be legalized and taxed. Billions and billions are spent on the plant and billions more spent to keep it illegal. Only a fool would not see the wisdom of legalizing and taxing this infinitely beneficial plant. Wisconsin alone would be ahead by billions of dollars. As it is now, all the billions to stop it has only made it more available. The money stays in the hands of bad people not taxed. Countless deaths and horrible misery. Is this what you like Big Sucker, I mean trucker?
PT replied on
I don't think anyone on here is arguing that pot should not be legalized, but that is NOT the issue here.
The issue is that right NOW it is still illlegal and he broke the law. That is all. what's with all the "slave" stuff, jeez.
Seminole replied on
@PT. What's with all the slave stuff? You forgot about the civil war? Remember? Nothing has changed really. Very many US citizens fought that it was not a problem. A Christian patriotic thing to have people in cages chained forced labor. Instead of having legal slavery, we now have the war on drugs. If you can't see the connection you are limited. The horrors of the drug war are similar to slavery which lead to the civil war. Same personality type sees no problem with the horrors of drug war. Belief system . Knowing the true facts about cannabis and condoning the cruel drug war is as sick as supporting slavery.
PT replied on
Ok, I am getting a better understanding of what you are saying.
So, you feel that all drugs should be legal then? Or just cannibas?
What are your thoughts on other criminal activities, like all these sex assaults lately? Should they be punished?

Seminole replied on
@PT. I do not believe that abusing drugs is good ,nor is kids getting drugs good. Unfortunately, how they are treated now ,does nothing to prevent , but makes things far worse. The gateway theory is a lie. History tells us in fact that prohibition does not work but makes things worse. Like alcohol or tobacco, a certain percent will have issues . A bigger threat is junk food meat dairy and poor nutrition . The pharmaceutical companies are a bigger threat than all prohibited drugs combined.I believe that the sex offender thing is a big political tool. The chances of a stranger being a threat are very small. Most can not be rehabilitated. Again, the way it is handled now is a farce. Take the time to research L.E.A.P.
