Sheriff: Man's body recovered from Washington County pond

TOWN OF ADDISON -- Washington County authorities have recovered the body of an 87-year-old man from a pond at his home in Town of Addison. The Washington County Sheriff's Office said Sunday that divers recovered the man's body Saturday after his wife reported him missing around 5:30 p.m. She says he left their home around 1:30 p.m. and his tractor and trailer were next to the pond. Authorities say there were marks in the mud near the pond consistent with someone slipping. A responding deputy called in dive teams because the water was approximately 14 feet deep. They retrieved the body around 6:30 p.m. The man's name hasn't been released.
