Rally to show support of Madison police Wednesday evening
MADISON -- Another rally is planned for later today -- this one to show support for the Madison Police Department.
The event was created by a Facebook page called "We stand with the Madison Police Department," and they're asking rally-goers to wear shirts emblazoned with that phrase.
The Facebook page was started just four days ago and already has more than 12,000 likes.
Madison police officer Matt Kenny has been on administrative leave with pay since he shot and killed 19-year-old Tony Robinson on Friday. This is not the first time the 45-year-old officer used deadly force. Kenny was exonerated for an incident that took place eight years ago.
Organizers have promised tonight's rally for police is the first of many. Rally-goers are supposed to meet at 5 p.m. at the Law Enforcement Memorial in Madison.
