Aside from his role as President Frank Underwood in House Of Cards, Spacey has made another presidential role his own in the film Elvis and Nixon.
It is not known yet whether Spacey will star in the series himself, having agreed the deal between his company Trigger Street Productions and Fox 21 and 20th Century Fox Television. (Trigger Street projects under the two-year Fox deal targeting broadcast will be produced by 20th Century Fox TV.).
Megyn Kelly and Kevin Spacey have their eyes set on the White House.
According to the book’s author, Kate Brower, the story is a sort of cross between Downton Abbey and House of Cards.
"But the most fascinating story turned out to be right in front of me every day: the men and women who take care of the first family, who share a fierce loyalty to the institution of the American presidency", she revealed.
House of Cards has been a shining light for Netflix.
It sounds like superb fodder for a TV series - especially one with Spacey and Brunetti at the helm as executive producers.
Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly is also involved in the project as executive producer, The Hollywood Reporter states.
The actor’s producing partner Dana Brunetti said: "Kevin and I are always looking to align Trigger Street with entities that understand what we expect to accomplish and how to maximize all resources to produce the best content possible".
Brunetti said she and Spacey's projects demonstrated how they did things differently.
With a feature resume that includes Captain Phillips and The Social Network, the new deal marks a big move into scripted television for Trigger Street.
