Chamberlin will join the band on tour this summer as they tour with Marilyn Manson on The End Times Tour, as well as a number of acoustic gigs inbetween.
Smashing Pumpkins fans everywhere are likely rejoicing right now, as original drummer Jimmy Chamberlin has rejoined the band for the Pumpkins’ 2015 North American tour with Marilyn Manson.
Chamberlain and Corgan reunited again in 2007 as Smashing Pumpkins but without the other original members Jimmy Iha and D'Arcy Wretzky. Corgan's Boston-style production and overdriven guitar work (and we mean both those descriptions as true compliments, because, amazing) and Chamberlain's ability to write jazz drum lines that hit like heavy metal while bobbing and weaving around the composition of Corgan's intiricate songs.
Do not get your hopes up though, the reunion only appears to be temporary as Corgan and Chamberlin haven’t made any commitments beyond the current tour. "I can't just, "Cash the check" so to speak". However, after releasing 1998's Adore without Chamberlin, he was back on drums for 2000's Machina/The Machines of God and its sequel LP. Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan told US Today that Chamberlain, who hasn’t played with the group since 2009, was added when "an arrangement with another drummer fell through".
Jimmy Chamberlin’s return to the band is slightly surprising given his various disagreements with Corgan over the years.
