According to news reports and the Wisconsin court site, John Lund, the former Antigo principal, teacher and coach was sentenced to 90 days in jail for drug charges.
Lund was convicted of just one count of manufacturing or delivering marijuana. Six other counts were dismissed in a plea agreement.
In addition to the 90 days in jail, of which can be served with huber privleges, he was also ordered to serve 18 months of probation and 200 hours of community service.
During the hearing today, Lund apologized for letting people down.
Very good detailed report on this from WJFW Channel 12 -

I am glad to see that he did get some jail time, I really didn't know if he would. I wonder if he will have to do some "talking" to kids about drugs when doing the community service? I think that would be a good thing.
Anonymous replied on
Is he going to get his job back later, like Neufeld did?
tweetybird72 replied on
I think that 90 days is a total disgrace...My as well been told "bad boy", don't do it again...I can not believe this crap...The judge and DA need to get their heads out of their rears and start doing something worth while...Let us give the message to others that doing drugs is no big deal, you will only get a short sentence...Oh wait a minute...That is only for the "important people"...So sorry for the confusion...Next in line..."a nobody", they get a year in jail and 2 years probation and the felony stays on their record...REAL NICE...The judge and DA must me in the circle here some where and if to many dominos fall it may just come back to them...The justice system in Antigo is a damn embarrassment...It is a disgrace to even admit I live in this drug infested town...Really, what good would it do for him to "talk" to kids about drugs? He was suppose to be a role model for these kids, not a teacher on drugs...And really how do you thing it would look for him to go "preach" to kids about doing drugs, when they probably already do them as well...

Do us all a favor tweety bird 72, and leave!!! If you are so disgraced by this town..are you ignorant to believe it is better anywhere else?? I think it would do you good to get out of antigo so you can see for yourself that antigo's drug problem isnt even a blimp on the radar!!!!
tweetybird72 replied on
I hate to burst your bubble, but I am NOT leaving...So very sorry!!! I would have to say that you are ignorant for basically saying that Antigo doesn't have a drug problem...Or maybe you are one of them...far be it from me if you are or aren't because I don't care either way...It is very disgusting to read about drugs in the paper every single day...It would not be so bad if it wasn't so many young kids...My god 25 kids at a table doing "bath salts"...That is a scary thought...Would you want something actually done if that was one of your kids? I know I would be putting up a pretty big fight...How can anybody say Antigo does not have a drug problem...Just about every person you talk too has something to say about the drugs in this town...so come on now and be realistic...
Anonymous replied on
"Antigo's drug problem isn't even a blimp on the radar?" OMG! lol Can I ask exactly how much grass do you smoke! Maybe you think that it isn't a blimp on the radar because so called authorities have not bothered to do their jobs properly for so long or at times at all; like they should, or like state regulations require them to do or get held accountable with loss of job, fines etc! Here's a thought if they did their jobs right then they would have to start prosecuting their own families and they can't have that! "justleavealready" because it's SO obvious you're "angry" because "caring tweetybird72" is upset about the drugs in this town and having people admitting there is a problem would draw attention to your doing drugs! Also obvious... "tweetybird72" who is normally in denial & a 100% liar on these drug blogs, is only 99% one today, she only "cares" at the moment because her friends and family are doing illegal crap too in this town and her concern is a cover. They are also part of the 1 percent of truth that came out of her mouth because they are the people who are most likely to be affected by the ridiculous "favoritism sentences" that are given out. "less important" people that will get "nailed to the wall" justice for the same offenses compared to the authority figures, teachers, principal coach will get a little slap on the wrist & numerous GENEROUS offers of plea bargins, community service and let's not forget, sending a drug pushers back into our schools to talk about drugs...to hell with that, why should anyone give two craps or respect what a druggy has to say? The Antigo system only allows pushers a direct route back into the very positions they committed their crimes from in the first place. Anyone can place a complaint on the state of WI website against any police, social services, public official they would like.

CG, I think that ice berg has melted long ago. It would have to had to be a damn big iceberg to survive this long...I believe it was all a big joke, they have no clue what the hell is going on in this town, because if they did drugs would of never gotten this out of hand...I mean for a small town this is absurd...It seems that by now the whole damn town must be on some sort of drugs...For the love of god if they aren't I am sure it won't take long for them to start...And as of lately it is all people that are on state funding...If you can afford to do drugs, then I am thinking you can afford to support yourself...It is time this damn town starts having citizens in it that give a damn about what is going on and what needs to go on...Get off your drugged rears and start standing up for yourselves

I think for his community service hours, he should have to walk the downtown streets, cleaning garbage cans and clean garbage off the streets. Have him do this right after school is let out.... so all the kids can see the example. If he waits to go to jail until June 7th... guess who can't have their July 4th party???? Being on probation also means... no before dinner drinks...after dinner drinks... no booze at this pot smoking July 4th parties either right??? Oh I feel so bad for him and his wife... NOT... I do how ever... feel horrible for his dad. His dad looked like s--- for a while there... because of what his son did......

maybe he should have to walk the streets of Antigo with a huge sign hanging over his shoulders that says "I am a drug dealer who got caught and this is my punishment"

I bet that not a one of you have a clean slate as far as your "permanent record" goes, right? If any one of you knows John Lund personally then you would know that he has a good soul. Think about yourselves before you pass judgement and take into consideration the lives that you lead. Would you stand up to this type of scrutiny? John has done immeasurable good in his career. Never forget that. He is not trying to make excuses for what he did.
Mike replied on
I am not perfect. nor do I condone "pot smoking". What he did was wrong, and he knew it while he was doing it. He never pushed it to the kids, and he did not do it at work. He did it at home, with his friends. We, as parents are supposed to be the role models for our children, but we have failed as a society. What John has been doing for many years is taking up the slack we have let out and he was properly raising our children. I personally hope he gets his job back.
You stood behind us John, while we were failing as parents in this community. Remember, there are a great many who still support you as a teacher and a principal.
tweetybird72 replied on
Is that glass of yours always stay half full? Myself and many others do have a clean slate...Just because he has "a good soul", does not mean he shouldn't have gotten a punishment worth talking about...He did what was illegal...He may have done some "immeasurable good" in his career, but doing drugs is not considered a career...Although maybe if they made it a career, not so many people would be without a job...I guess to each their own

Seriously, you clowns calling for his head, have you not noticed that NO DRUGS WERE FOUND/RECOVERED in this case, and NO TRANSACTIONS WERE RECORDED!!! If this happened in any other community with some common sense (so basically all of them other than Ant-hole), the D.A.'s office (in Antigo I think D.A. stands for Dumb-a**) would laugh it out of the court system. You're a laughing stock people, and not because of Lund but because you're all so close minded and petty.

What the heck case are you talking about? Drugs were found and removed as well as everything that goes into selling and doing pot...money was also taken...Heck maybe all those drugs went to the judge and DA...One more domino that fell...

I believe you are mistaking Lund with Peterson. Lund was not caught with anything, it was all hearsay against him. I believe it was Peterson and/or Maas that actually had items that were found.
tweetybird72 replied on
I stand corrected thank you...you are 100% right...Did Maas go to court yet? And what about Mike Peterson?
Anonymous replied on
Mike Peterson's court has been delayed again and again, I am sure his sentence is dependent on if the others are prosecuted. The court site shows his next hearing is set for August 19. I am not sure about Maas, what was his name, I can't recall?
what a joke replied on
It was all hearsay? Yeah and some of that hearsay was out of his own mouth lol! Hearsay, telling, snitching whatever you want to call it. They all told on each other hahah! Not very good friends to one another. Only hearsay against Maas. Hearsay from Lund if the complaint is worded correctly? lol! Everyone of those guys agreed to testify against their own "friends".
...and to the cop or cop family member whining about the poor cops just doing their job. They know what their job is and they gladly accept the check. They can shut their cake hole and cash their check or stop taking the check.

I am not saying he is not a good teacher on the surface... BUT... lead by example. How can he send a student to the office if he catches him smoking a dubie, when he him self does the same exact thing. We as parents can't walk around screaming and being rude to people all the time and then expect to tell our children they can't do that. Children's first learning is from parents and family members... then we send them on to school and we place our kids in their care and hope and pray that their values are good ones to pass on to our children. I tried to put into my kids, if it is illegal...we avoid those items... it is not illegal to drink... but it is once your driving. I have an open relationship with my kids, who are all late 20's and early 30's... they come back home for a visit and want to go out with friends.... excellent... go... call mom for a ride home after drinking... I have never made them feel bad for it.. I have praised them for it... they don't ride with anyone drinking..nor drive drinking...

I can not believe this has ended with a slap on the hand! Now I suppose Hunter will get six months in jail, work release and all kind of breaks for being from a Upstanding Antigo Family (NOT)!! This is a disgrace for our Community and gives the message that Langlade Co. endorses POT HEADS!! Lund admitted he has smoked POT since age 16, doesn't that kind of paint a picture of abuse??? Oh nevermind, he was an upstanding teacher and like the rest of them above the Law!! I for one, feel bad for the officers involved in this investigation as they are the ones who got the raw deal for doing their job and protecting our community. Thank you Judge K and DA !

Antigo Senior replied on
Woohoo! Maybe people will soon start realizing that innocent and respectable people are being jailed for selling a plant that's been cultivated and used in ancient through modern cultures for thousands of years! Yes, this town does have a drug problem, but cannabis is a seed-bearing plant, not a drug. We need more enforcement on the substances people can die from, not a plant that makes you happy and hungry! You people that are throwing hissy-fits over this, I would like you to study your information! You've been taught that marijuana is a drug and can kill you along with all of the harder drugs, but really it does nothing but heal (except for your lungs, unless you have a vaporizer like me)! These kids in this town try weed, then they think the people that taught it could kill were lying about the harder drugs! THAT IS WHY MARIJUANA IS CONSIDERED A GATEWAY DRUG! I've been studying/using marijuana my entire life, and not once has it affected my career and/or family life! I'm a happy-go-lucky scientist (not going to label specific major because of the individualism of the career in this town and the mention of my vaporizor :P ) who loves his kids and realizes that when a law is not needed, IT IS THE PEOPLE UNDER THE LAW WHO NEED TO GET OFF THEIR BUTTS AND DO SOMETHING TO CHANGE IT! First, I would advise you spoon-fed unrealists to study your information and obtain a solid grasp on the issue! Free all of this town's role models that were involved in the transaction of a harmless plant!
“Make the most you can of the Indian Hemp seed and sow it everywhere.” – George Washington
“Hemp is of first necessity to the wealth & protection of the country.” – Thomas Jefferson
“Two of my favorite things are sitting on my front porch smoking a pipe of sweet hemp, and playing my Hohner harmonica.” – Abraham Lincoln
“We shall, by and by, want a world of hemp more for our own consumption.” – John Adams
“The greatest service which can be rendered any country is the add a useful plant to its culture!” -Thomas Jefferson
Also, many of you may not realize this town's economy runs on the basis of marijuana. That, and fast food restraunts, which would get way less business if people weren't taking part in the herb!

You must be 100% "PERFECT" right? What a joke...And really why the hell are you so concerned about other people doing drugs, if it does not concern you? I am saying that there is a serious drug problem in this town, and we as a community need to start standing up for our own and hopefully accomplish something that would stop all this nonsense...And, here you are flapping your jaws, that I am lying...WOW, excuse me for trying to help out the community...I knew we had a few dumb a--'s in this town, and you just confirmed one of them for me...Thank you so much. When it is legalized again, what will you think then? Cops should serve and protect. War on drugs has destroyed law enforcement. Focus on real crimes. Ones with victims.

As a Parent I must say that I am embarressed by all of You Adults cutting each other down. The Drug Problem in this town is at an All time High. And I am Extremely concerned for Our Children. I do not know Lund personally...All that I DO know is that He is to be a Mentor for Our Children. And what He did was Wrong. Its ILLEGAL for Heavens sake. And Drugs don't JUST effect One Person. It effects an Entire Community! C'MON People! We are here to teach Our Children RIGHT from WRONG. To follow rules. And NOT to participate in ILLEGAL activities. Or am I wrong? I understand that some Parents believe in---Do as I SAY...and Not as I DO concept. Either way...ILLEGAL drug use..is ILLEGAL drug use. And Personally, I don't want Him around My Children. And I Don't agree to him getting his job back. ---Lets Please...THINK OF THE CHILDREN! FOR THEY ARE OUR FUTURE.

Mother_of_2, when the majority of people don't agree that marijuana is this "dangerous" substance and that the laws put against it aren't needed, then it is that majority's job to do something about this useless law. I can tell you aren't a part of the majority that want to decriminalize a PLANT for God's sake, but want to be numb-skulled and fight it to your grave, even if legalizing it is for the best. Voting for women used to be illegal. Blacks sitting in certain areas of restaurants, schools, and buses used to be illegal too. Alcohol used to be illegal as well, until the population realized prohibition is useless. We need more people to realize prohibition isn't doing a damn thing but dragging role models of our community into the depths of ignorant peoples' accusations about the plant. I bet you the harder you are on your kids and the more you lie to them about pot, the more they're going to want to do it. I tried to tell my kids the truth about pot. How it's harmless, but it can get you in trouble because the majority of people in small towns like these are completely un-educated on it. Neither of them ever felt the need to try it because I expressed my ideas on it that it's just another medical herb, which it is. Tell your kids the truth, don't tear Lund down for his role in this community that is supported by weed, and above all get educated people. Please.
