Earl G. Lundmark

Earl G. Lundmark, 86, of Shawano, passed away on Friday, Sept. 26, 2014, in Shawano. Earl was born on Nov. 19, 1927, in Amery to the late Lenus and Marie (Hanson) Lundmark.

On Feb. 17, 1951, Earl was united in marriage to Patricia H. Elliott in Minneapolis. She preceded him in death on Sept. 19, 1998. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Superior, Earl enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving from 1947-1949 and continued proudly serving his country from 1950-1954 in the U.S. Air Force. He was a 50-year member of the Shawano American Legion. Earl was the director of Shawano County Social Services for over 20 years. He served as treasurer for the Shawano Sanitation District around Shawano Lake. He was both a Green Bay Packers fan and Minnesota Vikings fan, as well as a Milwaukee Brewers fan.

Earl is survived by his children, Jeffrey Lundmark, of Shawano, Bradley (Rose Schultz) Lundmark, of Milwaukee, Ann Lundmark, of Shawano, and two grandsons, Christopher and Nicholas.

Earl was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, his parents, two sisters and three brothers. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014, at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with the Rev. David Barrett officiating. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 117. Visitation will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Balsam Lake Cemetery at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Marilyn “Mary” Boivin

Marilyn “Mary” Boivin (nee Davids), 78, passed away peacefully Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Julius.

She was the loving mother of Lynn (Tero) Wiemero, Jacqueline (Dale) Walikainen, Gail (Timothy) Siebert, Jennifer (Michael) Gorichanaz and Kenneth Boivin; cherished grandmother of 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; dear sister of Roderick “Butch” Davids and Shane Davids.

She was preceded in death by her three brothers, Son, Chum and Kermit Davids.

Mary was loved and will be remembered by other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at Northwest Baptist Church, 4373 N. 92nd St., Wauwatosa.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Roger E. Page, 81, of Clintonville, passed away Thursday morning, Sept. 25, 2014, at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah.

Dora Grace Egan

Dora Grace Egan, 78, of Pella, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 24, at her farm. She was born on Nov. 22, 1935, in Pella, daughter of the late Otto and Lillian Moede.

Dora moved to Milwaukee in 1957 and married Thomas Egan on July 12, 1958. He passed away on March 16, 1981.

Dora is survived by their four children, Jill (Robert) Cone, Kim Egan, Ellen Kohls and Thomas (Sally) Egan. She is survived by four grandchildren, Alex and Callahan Kohls, and Kegan and Brenna Clarke. She is also survived by four siblings, Elda Tellock, Alvin (Julie) Moede, Gerald (Kathy) Moede and Janice Garity.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Alice Shankey and Lila Wenzel.

Dora lived most of her adult life in Milwaukee, but moved back to the homestead in 1989 to care for her ailing father. She loved animals, gardening, conservation and football pools. She always had time for friends and a smile on her face. She made people laugh — belly laugh, and was known and loved by many in both the Shawano and Milwaukee areas. She was the 2014 grand marshal of the Pella Daze parade.

Like Cher, or Prince, she didn’t need a last name. She was Dora.

Funeral services for Dora will be held Saturday, Sept. 27, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church-Hermansfort. Pastor Steven Conradt will officiate. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.

Bevelyn I. Thorne

Bevelyn I. Thorne, 82, of Oconto Falls, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, in Oconto Falls. Born on Nov. 24, 1931, in Hillsboro, she was the daughter of the late Bryon and Garnet (Revels) Moody.

On Nov. 19, 1960, Bevelyn and Oscar S. Thorne were united in marriage. The couple was blessed with one son. Bevelyn was a former member of the River Valley Church, formerly known as Shawano Assembly of God Church. She and Oscar loved doing mission work together. She did mission work with the Assembly of God in both Morgan Siding and Keshena. Bevelyn also loved to help out with children’s ministry. She will be most remembered as a generous woman with a kind heart and will be missed by all who knew her.

Bevelyn is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Nathan and Martha Thorne, of Antigo; her siblings, Betty Tharpe, of Oconto Falls, Bethyl (Roland) Peckham, of Nekoosa, Belva (Erich) Milchner, of Oconto Falls, and Byron “Bud” Moody, of Port Edwards.

Bevelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar, on April 18, 2010; one sister, Berkie Ferkey; and one infant brother, Merit Moody.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2014, at the River Valley Church in Shawano with the Rev. Dan Taylor officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Inurnment will be in the Lake Drive Cemetery in the town of Wescott.

Dorothy Schenk

Dorothy Schenk, of Mattoon, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation Center in Antigo. She was 95 years old.

She was born on April 22, 1919, in Birnamwood, a daughter of the late Albert and Emma (Boettcher) Gast. She married Hurbert “Jim” Schenk on Jan. 24, 1937, in Shawano. He preceded her in death on Sept. 28, 1974. She attended Regina Grade School in the town of Almon. She moved to Germantown and worked at Badger Motor Defense Plant for two years and was an Avon representative for eight years. In 1962, she moved to Antigo and worked at Bird of Paradise Supper Club in Antigo and Country Inn Supper Club in Phlox until her retirement. She enjoyed playing Bingo, cards and pool.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Judy Schenk, of Abrams; three grandchildren, Susan (Jeff) Radtke, of Chicago, Paul (Vicki) Schenk, of San Diego, California, and Dean (Chris) Schenk, of Wixom, Michigan; six great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Nathan Radtke, Andrew, David, Oliver and Elizabeth Schenk; nieces, nephews and close friends, Mary and Ed Artz, Linda Diercks and Rudolf Hapke.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy, Karen Kay Schenk; a son, Lloyd Schenk; her companion of 19 years, Arnold “Sonny” Schmelter, in 1994; sisters, Selma “Sally” Drews, Ella Hartman and Irene Groskoph; and brothers, Walter, Henry and Ferdinand Gast.

A funeral service will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Mattoon, with the Rev. Dean Bertsch officiating. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery, Mattoon. Visitation will be Monday at the church from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service.

Elmo C. Wolf

Elmo C. Wolf, 88, was welcomed home by his heavenly Father on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014.

Elmo was born on Feb. 25, 1926, to Louis and Margaret (Lemke) Wolf in the town of Washington, Shawano County. He graduated from Bonduel High School. In his earlier years he enjoyed working on the family farm. On May 31, 1958, he married the former Lucille Braun at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano, with Pastor LP Buelow officiating. The Wolfs made their home in Shawano for the past 56 years. He was employed for many years at the Shawano Equity Co- op, retiring in 1991.

Elmo was known for his kind and gentle nature, and his greatest love was spending time with his family. He was a devout Christian and stood firm in his convictions. He lived his faith, and his life was an example to his family. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of White Clay Lake. Elmo enjoyed celebrating his German heritage, genealogy and reading.

He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his beloved wife of 56 years, Lucille; his children, Linda (Russ Schroeder) Clark, Oneida, Alan (Robin) Wolf, Shawano, Joan (Brian) Biertzer, Shawano; grandchildren, Ryan Clark, Shawano, Dana (Ben) Ritchie, Pella, Emma (Josh Haut) Clark, Gresham, Sean Wolf, U.S. Army, Georgia, April (Jake) Wolfe, Shawano, Erica (Jeremy) Schaewe, Shawano, Adam (Stephanie) Mikle, Gillett, Josh (Nikki) Biertzer, Eric Biertzer and Aleah Biertzer, all of Shawano; great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Austin, Jakob, Payton, Bailey, Brayden, Brooke, Brixon, Aubree, Bentley and Ryder; sister-in-law, Elaine (Earl) Thompson, Shawano; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by two daughters and a son in infancy; a sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and Harold Yaeger; in-laws, Lawrence (Ruth) Braun, Viola (Marvin) Anker, Laura (Clifton) Anker, Marcella (Marlin) Reetz, Caroline (Harvey) Rohde, Bernice (Ed) Pahlow.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, White Clay Lake, with Pastor Steven N. Pockat officiating. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery of Shawano. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Thursday at the church until the time of services.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Pastor Roy Rinehard and Pastor Steven Pockat for going above and beyond the call of their ministry to provide loving pastoral care for Elmo and his family during his illness. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Heartland Hospice for the care shown to Elmo and his family over the past month.

Vera D. Miller-Kopan

Vera D. Miller-Kopan, 93, of Shawano, passed away on Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, in Shawano. She was born on Oct. 25, 1920, in the Township of Red Springs to the late William and Minerva (Tousey) Bogda.

On Dec. 27, 1947, Vera was united in marriage to Dale I. Miller. He preceded her in death on Jan. 29, 1975. Lucky to find love again, she was united in marriage to Robert Kopan on Sept. 14, 1997. Robert also preceded her in death on July 8, 2004. Vera was a sales clerk in the clothing industry for many years. When she was younger she enjoyed fishing. Vera loved going to the casino and playing the slots. Her biggest enjoyment was time spent with her family, especially during the holidays.

Vera is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Vera was preceded by her first husband, Dale; her second husband, Robert; her parents; her brothers, Melvin Bogda and Ferdinand Bogda; and one sister, Hildegard Schwartz.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014, at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with the Rev. Melinda Shriner officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Inurnment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano.

Charlotte E. Rysewyk

Charlotte E. Rysewyk, 83, of Shawano, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014, in Green Bay. She was born on Dec. 2, 1930, in Birnamwood to the late Robert and Lora (Randall) Tabbert.

Charlotte was united in marriage on June 21, 1952, to Albert Rysewyk. Albert preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1997. Charlotte worked at The Shawano Leader for 35 years before retiring. She loved her dogs, Snickers & B.J. She enjoyed walking the dog and visiting with all the people she met along the way. Charlotte enjoyed, more than anything, spending time with her family.

Charlotte is survived by daughters, Linda (Ron) Dickelman, of Shawano, and Cindy (Dan) Joslin, of Green Bay; her grandchildren, Jeremy (Katie) Dickelman, Tyler Joslin and Nathan (Desiree) Joslin; four great-grandchildren and one on the way.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, her parents and two sisters, Loretta and Velda.

Private family services will be held.

Martin J. Hess Sr.

Martin “Mike” J. Hess Sr., 77, of Shawano, formerly of Des Plaines, Illinois, passed away on Sept. 21, 2014, in Shawano. Born on Jan. 24, 1937, in Des Plaines, he was the son of the late Joseph and Johanna (Drenth) Hess.

In 1957, Mike enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Korean War until he was honorably discharged in 1959. On Aug. 15 of the same year, Mike was united in marriage to Arlene H. White in Elmhurst, Illinois. Together the couple had three children. Mike owned and operated a trucking company in Illinois for over 20 years. He also worked for his father in the restaurant business for over 20 years. Mike loved playing the accordion and often played for the residents of the local nursing homes. He also loved fishing and was a member of the N.E.W.C.A.B.B., as well as the Sportsman Club.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Arlene; his children, Martin “Butch” (Marge) Hess Jr., Joann (Dan) Berg and Darlene (Dan) Makula; his grandchildren, Daniel Berg Jr., Joseph Berg, Alexa Hess, Michelle Makula and Daniel Makula Jr. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Joseph R. Hess.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014, at the Swedberg Funeral Home with the Rev. Ted Andrada officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. Burial will be in the Town of Maine Cemetery.

Shirley A. Hoffman

Shirley A. Hoffman, born to George and Alma McFarlane, in Tigerton, on May 10, 1931.

She resided in Suring at the time of her death. She went to her Heavenly Father on Aug. 24, 2014. Waiting there, for her, were her beloved husband, Carl W. Hoffman (Shepley), and granddaughter, Nancy (Oklahoma).

She enjoyed trout fishing, sports, traveling, Scrabble and her family of Judy, Carla (Pat), Dennis (Nancy), Karen (Dave), Rick (Joni), Terry (Kathy) and Scott (Laura); plus 24 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; sister, Nellie (John); brothers, Larry and Mike (Carolyn); and many nieces and nephews.

A private memorial was held in her honor.

Allen R. Burmeister

Allen R. Burmeister, 63, of Seymour, passed away Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, at Appleton Medical Center. He was born Oct. 20, 1950, to the late Ray and Dorothy (Gagnow) Burmeister.

In 1969, Al graduated from Shiocton High School. He was united in marriage to Diane Schwister on Aug. 4, 1979, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Black Creek. Diane preceded him in death on Feb. 16, 2008. Al had an intricate role with has work at Seymour Dairy Products and was vital to the success of the cheese factory. He was an avid bass fisherman and enjoyed being outdoors as much as possible, whether it was hunting, trapping or gardening. Al was one of the original members of the Wolf River Bass Club.

Al is survived by his siblings, Myrtle (Louis) Kutchenriter, Clintonville, Oliver Burmeister, Shawano, Ivan (Shirley) Burmeister, Marion, Linda (Alan) Stuart, Hortonville, Lyle (Alice) Burmeister, Black Creek, Aaron (Sue) Burmeister, Seymour, and Dennis (Doris) Burmeister, Black Creek. He is further survived by a sister-in-law, Nancy Bruhn, Appleton; and brother-in-law Carl Jr. (Traci) Schwister, Seymour; and also survived by a special niece, Brooke; special nephew, Kevin; many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, Al was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl and Gladys Schwister, and brother-in-law, Gordon L. Bruhn.

Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Rebecca Henry officiating. Burial will take place at the Oak Hill Cemetery in the town of Maine.

Stanley Rudzinski

Stanley Rudzinski, 93 (and 3⁄4), Hofa Park, died peacefully Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, at his home on the farm where he was born and lived all his life. The son of Frank and Elizabeth (Bogacz) Rudzinski was born Feb. 26, 1921.

On June 22, 1946, Stanley married Irene Palubicki at St. Stanislaus Church in Hofa Park. The couple farmed and raised their family in the town of Lessor. Stanley served as town of Lessor chairman from 1968-1981. He also worked at the Navarino Feed Mill for 14 years. He liked hunting and fishing, and especially enjoyed the fishing trips to Michigan. He loved Bingo and looked forward to Thursday and Sunday sessions. Stanley loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include his five children: Diane (Ken) Holewinski, Hofa Park, Delores “Dee” Wanner, Green Bay, Darlene (Robert) Lee, Black Creek, Dennis “Reggie” (Ellen) Rudzinski, Bonduel, and Donna Mae Rudzinski, at home; one daughter-in-law, Linda (Rudzinski) Buss, Bonduel; 10 grandchildren, Paul (Tracy) Holewinski, Cathy (Eric) Gille, Carrie (Kelly) Brunette and Jason (Deb) Holewinski, Mike (Barb) Lee and Mark Lee (Heather Last), Craig (Kristi) Rudzinski, Sarah (Brett) Dunnick, Ryan (Serena) Rudzinski and Eric Rudzinski; 16 great-grandchildren, Haley, Hunter and Landon Holewinski, Jacob, Cole and Brady Gille, Johanna and Claire Brunette, Brody and Riley Holewinski, Landen and Brycen Rudzinski, Jackson Rudzinski, Jasmine, Zack and Alex Lee; three sisters, Rose Kleist, Bonduel, Esther Marlewski, Milwaukee, Evelyn (Harvey) Pertula, Minnesota; one sister-in-law, Rita Rudzinski, Milwaukee; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene, in 2012; son, David Rudzinski; infant daughter, Dorothy Rudzinski; grandson, Douglas Holewinski; three brothers, John (Johanna), Frank and Leonard Rudzinski; two sisters, Cecilia (John) Bluma, Lucille (Ray) Ambrosius; two brothers-in- law, Russell Kleist, and Leonard Marlewski.

Friends may call at Marnocha Funeral Home, 186 E. Pulaski St., Pulaski, from 3-7 p.m. Sunday, with the Closing Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Visitation continues after 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Stanislaus Church, Hofa Park. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Bob Konkol, O.F.M., presiding. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

The family would like to thank Donna Mae for taking such good care of Dad; also Hali, Unity Hospice and the staff at the Prevea Clinic in Seymour for their care and concern.

James F. Nelson

James F. Nelson, 78, of Shawano, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, in Shawano. He was born on Feb. 23, 1936, to the late Reuben & Hazel (Tollerud) Nelson.

Jim was a graduate of Michigan State University in 1960 and sang in the Michigan State Men’s Glee Club. On Nov. 11, 1961, he was united in marriage to Jean Wilhorn in Wisconsin Rapids. He worked in the food service industry in sales and management at Oxman Meat Company in Milwaukee, DG Robinson in Oconomowoc and Neesvig in Madison before retiring in 1998, when they moved to their Shawano Lake home.

Jim found pleasure in restoring 1955, 1956 and 1957 Chevys with his sons. He enjoyed deer hunting with family, along with duck hunting in North Dakota and muskie fishing in Canada. Jim was an active member of the Ducks Unlimited Chapter in Shawano County and served as a committee member for 16 years. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and sang in the church choir. He enjoyed golf and helped with the junior golf program at Golden Sands. He cherished his time with his family and friends taking pontoon rides on Shawano Lake.

James is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Jean; his sons, Dan, of Minneapolis, Dave (Jill), of Appleton; three grandchildren, Jonathon, of St. Paul, Adam and Jennifer, of Appleton; one brother-in-law, James (Barb) Wilhorn, of Nekoosa; one sister-in-law, Joanne Wilhorn, of Wisconsin Rapids.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel with the Rev. Timothy Shoup and the Rev. Mark Palmer officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Bonduel.

A memorial fund has been established for the St. Paul Education Fund.

Joseph N. Brazgel Jr.

Joseph N. Brazgel Jr., 80, of Shawano, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014, at his home. He was born on June 18, 1934, to the late Joseph N. and Phyllis (Hapak) Brazgel Sr.

Joseph served his country by enlisting in the Air Force. He loved music and enjoyed playing the guitar. Joseph also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Most of all, Joe loved spending time with his family.

Joseph is survived by his daughter, Jill (Thaddeous Fernandez) Martin, of Bowler; one granddaughter, Lavender Martin; stepchildren, Michael (Bobbi Hacker) Rogers, of Shawano, and Catherine Wargo, of Minneapolis; his siblings, Donald (Phyllis) Brezgel, Rosemary (Fred) Dill and Delores (Dennis) Hinchey. He is further survived by his special nephew, Jerry (Lavern) Brazgel; his good friend, Carl Tischauser; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Phyllis; his siblings, Chester Brezgel, Paul Brazgel, Charlotte Norenberg, Evelyn Brinkman and Patricia Piatrowski; and his former wife, Shirley Rogers.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with the Rev. David Barrett officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery with military rites conducted by AMVETS Post 10.

Kevin A. Griepentrog

Kevin A. Griepentrog, 25, of Tigerton, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014, from injuries sustained in a recycling truck accident in the town of Freedom, Outagamie County.

Kevin Alan Griepentrog was born on July 2, 1989, in Austin, Texas, to Kevin and Sherri (Wolff) Griepentrog. He was raised in Tigerton and graduated from Tigerton High School in 2007. Kevin went on to the University of Wisconsin-Superior and spent his first two years in the Air Force ROTC program. and he later received a bachelor’s degree in business administration. For the past seven years, he worked for Harter’s Fox Valley Disposal of Wittenberg either part-time or full-time.

Kevin was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, town of Morris. He enjoyed go-cart racing, downhill skiing and traveling, especially his trips to Hawaii and Australia. In high school, he played football, played the trumpet, and was on the track team, where he was a sprinter and a relay race runner. In college, Kevin continued as captain of the track team, volunteered on the student council, and served as president of Financial Management Association (FMA) at UW-Superior. He also helped coach football at Marshall Middle School in Duluth, Minnesota. Kevin was a caring person who will be remembered most as a devoted father, a loving son and a special grandson.

Survivors include an infant son, Draiman; his mother, Sherri (Rob) Kubiaczyk, of Wittenberg; his father, Kevin Griepentrog, of Tigerton; one brother, William Griepentrog, of Tigerton; and his girlfriend, Kenzie Gilbertson, of Superior. Kevin is further survived by his maternal grandparents, Frederick (Jeanette “Peggy”) Wolff, of Wittenberg; his paternal grandmother, Joan (friend Tom Gauthier) Wilkinson, of Tigerton; and his paternal great-grandmother, Selma Griepentrog, of Tigerton. There are two godparents, Shelley Wilkinson, of Tigerton, and Sheila Wolff, of Shawano; many aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

Kevin was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Truman Olson, and his paternal stepgrandfather, George Wilkinson.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Sept. 22, at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, town of Morris. Pastor John Hielsberg will officiate, and burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Tigerton. Friends may call on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. at the Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Tigerton, and on Monday from 9 a.m. until time of service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Griepentrog family for a fund that will be established in Kevin’s name.

James W. Knuese

James W. Knuese, 64, of Shawano, passed away at home on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014. James was born on June 27, 1950, in Milwaukee to the late Ray and Ruth Knuese.

James was a peaceful, kind-hearted man who loved having fun with his family and friends.

James is survived by his significant other, Joleen Hawpetoss; his children, Kristen and Devin Knuese, both of Arizona; Joleen’s children, Jessey Hawpetoss and Julia Van Straten; two stepgrandchildren, Drake and Tenas; a special niece. Sicliana; and a special nephew, Henry; a brother, Jack Knuese; a sister, Jill Knueppel; as well as Joleen’s siblings, David Hawpetoss, Travis Hawpetoss, Peter Hawpetoss and Alicia Hawpetoss; Joleen’s parents, Jill and Paul Marroquin; and James’ best friend, George.

James was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014, at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until the time of the services.

Michael J. Smith

Michael J. Smith, 48, of Keshena, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014, in Green Bay. He was born on Oct. 8, 1965, in Shawano to Joseph L. and Dorothy (Winneshiek) Smith.

Michael lived most of his life in the Neopit area and worked at Menominee Tribal Enterprises. He enjoyed riding around, hunting, fishing and, most importantly Michael loved spending time with his children. Michael is survived by his fiancee, Raquel Escalante; his children, Felicia, Michael, Timothy, Kayla, Sarg, Shaneka, Steven and Marcos; one granddaughter, Marisa; his parents, Joseph and Dorothy; his siblings, Frank, of Appleton, Jessica, Shelley (Greg) and Lisa (Son), of South Dakota; and a special cousin, John Boyd III. He is further survived by aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014, at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Neopit with the Rev. David McElroy, O. Praem, officiating. Visitation will be held at the Neopit Community Center in the Dave Kiefer Room after 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, until the time of the service. A prayer service will be held at the community center at 7 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in the St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Neopit.
