World Series report: Game 6
There were lots of offensive heroes for the Royals, but the nod goes to starting pitcher Yordano Ventura, who didn’t let the Giants get anything going in what became a runaway game. Ventura went seven innings, allowing three hits and no runs with five walks and four strikeouts to record his first World Series victory.
History on Kansas City's side
The Kansas City Royals had the San Francisco Giants right where they wanted them. That might sound like a bit of a stretch, considering the Royals entered Game 6 of the World Series on Tuesday night trailing three games to two. No team wants to be within a game of elimination before making it to Game 7.
Royals hitters power through
Thrilled to see somebody other than Madison Bumgarner on the mound Tuesday night for the Giants, the Royals erupted for seven runs in the second inning and cruised to a 10-0 victory in Game 6 to even the World Series.
UW's next opponent: Rutgers
Rutgers’ players and coaches are experiencing turbulence on their first trip through the Big Ten with their most recent issue being an injury to starting quarterback Gary Nova.
Sports briefs Tuesday
The Nashville Predators placed forward Rich Clune on waivers and assigned forward Viktor Stalberg to Milwaukee on a conditioning assignment.
SEC teams dominate the first playoff rankings
Mississippi State, Florida State, Auburn and Mississippi are the top four teams in the first College Football Playoff rankings. Florida State of the ACC is the only non-SEC school.

Hunter Pence is one special dude
As both a person and a baseball player, Hunter Pence is one of a kind. Which is too bad, because every major-league baseball team could use one of him. The San Francisco Giants are glad he plays for them.
