University of Wisconsin sophomore Lauren Carlini was named as the Big Ten Player of the Year. Carlini, a 6-foot-2 setter, put up 11.45 assists per set in running the Badgers offense.

Head coach Brady Hoke was fired Tuesday after Michigan stumbled to a 5-7 record and missed the postseason in his fourth year at the helm.

Kansas wins in Orlando
Perry Ellis had 17 points and nine rebounds to help No. 11 Kansas beat Michigan State, 61-56, Sunday in the championship game of the Orlando Classic.
